Feinberg, because of your list I'm having a flashback to the weekend in 1981 when I went to New York to visit a boyfriend who wanted to see Heavy Metal and Tarzan the Ape Man. LawrenceA commiserated with me when I mentioned this once before. To see either was unfortunate, but to see both on successive nights . . . . Some relationships are not meant to be (thank God!). Maybe I should have stayed another night to hit the trifecta by seeing Legend of the Lone Ranger?

Another note about 1981: I remember that there was a huge buzz about True Confessions before and just after it opened. According to Wiki, that was in late September. True Confessions was expected to be a big player in the Oscars. And then it just wasn't.

I added The Weavers to my list, since it's an incredible film (and I once worked with Pete Seeger). I thought it was a 1982 film.
