Re: Your Ten Most Wanted?
It can be found, I'm sure, from collectors but I'm not ready to buy a watery recording from TV yet of Clark Gable's last comedy, BUT NOT FOR ME. I haven't seen it since I was a kid, and it came on television...probably A&E or AMC. But Not for Me seems to be available streaming, though I have no...

Re: Your Ten Most Wanted?
The top of my list would be La Femme Du Boulanger but let me come back to you with the rest. It seems to be on youtube ... but, sorry to say, it isn't subtitled: I've purchase...

Re: Cute, but with the talent to overcome it
Sorry, Mary Kate, I did not mean to sound like I was changing up the rules on you, actually I was just agreeing with you about Debbie Reynolds. Wendy, I'm sorry, I should have been able to see that. :( Now, let the party continue... http://cs306106.userapi.com/v306106189/779f/ULNSf_eUdXg.jpg

Re: Richard III remains confirmed
Thanks for the link for the mock trial. You're welcome. :) I liked how she concentrated on the Queens behind the throne and in these cases they were far more formidable than their husbands. Although Matilda and Eleanor of Aquataine were better known of the two I found all cases interesting. Helen C...

Re: Cute, but with the talent to overcome it
It's hard to live up to the speckled puppy standard of cuteness. I mean, who can beat this? http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx61/pvitari/Puppy_zps2212e709.jpg Oh my gosh, simply adorable !!! This is reminding me of a friendly argument I once had with my sister as to which were cuter, babies or k...

Re: Cute, but with the talent to overcome it
Mary-Kate - Debbie is cute, but I think it would be a great underestimation to say she has relied on it all her life. She's got a lot more going for her than cute, and I think she'd have loved to have been given a chance to do serious roles. She knocked me out a few weeks ago when I finally sat dow...

Re: Ben Johnson
Mary-Kate, I suspect Ben felt a little silly about his romantic scenes in Mighty Joe Young -- there's an interview where he says that Terry Moore makes him nervous as a cat, or something like that (can't remember the exact language). But... he could give as good as he got. In the same article where...

Re: The Reluctant Saint (1962)
Wow, I've never heard of this movie. Anything with Maximilian Schell AND Akim Tamiroff is great in my book. Thanks for posting the link you two. I too have appreciated the heads-up and link to this movie. I watched it on snow day (last Friday) and enjoyed it. Maximilian Schell was very good. Never ...

Re: Cute, but with the talent to overcome it
Hmm, very interesting idea for a thread.
Of leading ladies, I can't think of a cuter lady than Debbie Reynolds.
To me, where actors are concerned, it's mostly the "juvenile" types who fall into the "cute" category ... for instance, Ben Cooper immediately comes to mind.

Re: Ben Johnson
Ben and Terry Moore, the first lady he kissed on screen. :) The bad part about this was that the stunt guys started calling him "Lover Boy," a name his wife Carol also teased him with. Ooh, that's funny. Those naughty, fun lovin' stunt guys (not to mention Carol.) Hopefully he wasn't too ...

Truth be told, it's the only one on your list that I know, though, the title of "The Last Outlaw" was bugging me. ' Must have read about it somewhere... ' ( ( Thinking, thinking... ) ) Aha! In the book B Movies by Don Miller. There. I'm proud of myself. John Ford wrote the original story,...

Re: Richard III remains confirmed
The David Starkey programmes are very good and very detailed, he's somewhat a controversial figure here, he says what he thinks whether it's politically correct or not. Sounds promising. Thank you for telling me about him. Helen Castor is a good and detailed historian, her book She Wolves about 4 Q...

Your Ten Most Wanted?
If someone asked you to make up a list of your ten most wanted movies, what would you throw together? And I don't mean movies that are available to rent or purchase (I have a looong wish list of those  ); I mean those titles that seem to be unavailable anywhere . My present list, some titles s...

Re: Richard III remains confirmed
We don't get any history at all now. It's terrible. They are so obsessed with getting competitive scores in math and science that history is almost completely gone. So true. :( One of our presidents said knowledge of history is of the utmost importance. You have to know where you've been in order t...
