I like this film. It's refreshing to see Bogie playing such a different sort of role, with no hint at all of underworld connections.

Joan Blondell is cute...and I always like Leslie Howard.

^ That photo (and any others) are always appreciated. Post away! The only ones I have online are my own desktops and avatars...but I know you have more of an arsenal at your disposal. One of these days I need to get a PhotoBucket account. As for Ronald Colman's Beau Geste , it just so h...

And I don't think not knowing where to start drawing Bette Davis makes you 'tainted'. It makes perfect sense to me, actually. Especially given what I wrote above. It's really hard to feel comfortable and connected when drawing someone who doesn't give anything away to you. The result, I would suspec...

^ Hey! Don't be sorry! It's a great conversation! And that is neat that we agree upon why it might be especially hard to draw Coop and make it work. It makes me feel good to have someone who does 'real' art tell me that my suspicions about him are correct, as to why he'd be difficult to capture. He ...

In fact, not only is it annoying - it is often destructive. Because once the commentators and pundits run out of actual NEWS, they resort to personal political or social commentary, just to fill up air time. But if it's all the same to them, I would prefer to distill the news through my OWN moral f...

Yes, you are a super-nerd! Hey, I'm married to an uber-geek, and I love it. At least one of us knows how to fix the computer! Yeah...we are good for that, aren't we? ( *looking furtively at my nephew's iPod, which my sister forces me to control and download for, since neither she nor m...

I miss my Stargate and Star Trek so much, that I check out anything that seems remotely like it might be pure escapism - anything that is the opposite of the horrible reality junk that's on so much now. American Idol is filled with the most idiotic fools I've ever seen grouped together in one show....

Well, Miss G, it's done. And your presence is urgently required in the shiny new Gary Cooper thread. :D

I'm too tired to start the John Barrymore one tonight though. But I wanna get back to that conversation as well! :)

^ I love her also. She is probably my second favorite actress - right after Barbara Stanwyck.

Myrna is just adorable.

I really do think you are selling yourself short, BobHopeFan. I guess it's sort of funny....if you aren't able to do something yourself, when someone else can do it you are sooooo impressed. So here we sit - you think my graphics stuff is better...and I think your drawing is better. Of course,...

I really like Buster Keaton. When it comes to the "Big Three" silent comedians, I prefer Chaplin...but Keaton is second...and considering that I pretty much WORSHIP Chaplin, second is not a bad place to be in this particular line-up. ;) I think my favorite Buster Keaton film is THE GENERAL...

2. William Powell. Love William, he has the cutest facial expressions I have ever seen. First time I saw him, I thought he looked kind of odd, and I wondered (as with all classics actors) just what made him so famous. The more of his movies I watched the more I fell in love with his classy speech a...

Sugarpuss ...you know I agree with you about Bette Davis. I don't think she was CAPABLE of phoning in a performance. She was too driven to even consider such a thing. I really like her alot too. She as just breathtaking in Of Human Bondage ...WOW what a performance. She had me feeling SOOOOOOOO sor...

Let's see if I can keep up with this Coop thread, the Coop fans are always so quick for me! First of all, Ball of Fire is one of my favorite Cooper movies, clearly for just the "Would you yum-me once more?" phrase... But also love For Whom The Bell Tolls , Sergeant York , The Wester...
