Re: I Just Watched...

I like the way Beulah Bondi's character calls Richard Egan's character "Lifeguard" and gets him to fix the leak that's dripping on her "convenience." I love when he asks her: "Where are you leaking?" Probably my favorite Sandra Dee lines is A SUMMER PLACE is the one to...

It's just a typing shortcut while waiting for a button.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/The_Boston_Strangler.JPG The Boston Strangler (1968) TCM 8/10 DeSalvo was stabbed to death in prison in 1973, yet Muller and Zahn do not mention this. They say that there is doubt that DeSalvo was really the killer, yet in 2013 DNA evidence from the la...

My suggestion is for members to take it upon themselves to LEARN basic HTML while waiting for a button to be programmed/included. You can format or add almost anything you want within the body of a post, like multiple quotes: Helping out and spending time at the Oasis is something I do because I enj...

Re: I Just Watched...

Last night I finished A SUMMER PLACE '59 after all the conversation on that other board, I just had to give it a try. In all honesty I avoided popping it into the DVD player thinking that damn easy listening theme song was going to play incessantly & get stuck in my head- courage rewarded, my fe...

Masha- I like you're watching within a genre. While I hate violence & gore, can usually "take" zombie movies & actually marvel at the artistry.
I have friends in the special effects biz & it's fun seeing their creative work.

Re: I Just Watched...

I am no doubt getting persnickety in my old age, but any story that preys on children is not my cup of tea. "Stunned silence" I understand. But "twitters of laughter." ? I agree, children being preyed upon is distasteful, especially since I endured similar rage & violence be...

Re: Umrah Hajj Packages

Wow! Good luck with that renovation! Luckily, everything in my house is original (1910) including the free standing cast iron tub-it's the way to go since it's not part of any walls. Only it weighs about 800 lbs, so replacing it isn't really an option. I've seen idiot renovators throw these out the ...

Thank you!
But there are not too many sub forums-this site's just right! :smilie_happy_thumbup:

Re: I Just Watched...

I just watched NIGHT OF THE HUNTER '55 at the Eastman House in Rochester projected in 35mm. It was worth the 90 minute drive each way. It's obviously an incredibly great film, but I hadn't seen it in years, so every scene unfolded almost as if new. The intimate theater was sparsely attended, I'd say...

Re: I Just Watched...

I just watched The Fabelmans (2022), Steven Spielberg's semi-autobiographical coming of age film. (snipped) So, for me, The Fabelmans is decent, with many flaws. Though I've enjoyed many of Spielberg's films, he's no John Ford. Thanks for the great description of what you liked/didn't like about th...

I sure hope these aren't new versions, as I copied all of them from last TCM broadcasts & enjoyed them all.

The performers are terrible, none more so than Mr. Langella, who is supposed to be mysterious and romantic but behaves with all of the charm of a room clerk at the Nile Hilton." I find it hard to believe Frank Langella would ever be wooden or bland. Lesley Ann Down is at the very least a capab...
