Re: I Just Watched...

Catching up on 80's movies...suggested by TCM's schedule. Last night I saw NIGHT SHIFT 1982, promising as I see Henry Winkler and Shelly Long are the leads. But then I audibly groaned when I saw Ron Howard is the Director. While I love Ron Howard, I generally really dislike his movies. They strike m...

Re: This week on SVENGOOLIE...

This week the treat came during the 6p-8p THREE STOOGES shorts before Svengoolie- They aired the 1934 musical novelty THE WOMAN HATERS featuring the absolutely adorable Marjorie White. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/33/Majoriewhite1930.jpg It was the first of the Stooges appearances wit...

Re: TCM announces it is sunsetting the TCM Forums

Still, the two incidents left their mark. In a way, they did a good thing. I was pretty cocky when I was younger, and they helped to disarm that. They probably are the reason why I am more mild-mannered and down to earth today It might be humility learned by the school of hard knocks, but it was fo...

I don't think he ever had Peter O'Toole as his avatar. You may be thinking of someone else. Obviously, you are correct, I was confused. LawrenceA you have always been a great contributor. Lost Horizons/Sukov....I support you controlling your "gossip" & aggression here. You have had a ...

I never found you "gossipy" in fact, found you most dignified & polite. The Ronald Coleman avatar suits you far better than O'Toole imho.

Depending on the state you live in, that could be illegal. Either way, he is entirely to blame for that and anyone blaming you for it is just being an A hole. Indeed. Especially sinister because CinemaInternational is a really sweet guy & thoughtful poster! I too was a vicim of abuse until gett...

Re: I Just Watched...

Thanks Masha, I'll give that one a try. After the disaster that is TROLL (2022) the new Netflix shoot em up, I decided to revisit the original, Norwegian TROLLHUNTER 2011. Even though it's my third time seeing it, I still loved it, with every Troll encounter still seemed fresh to me. In contrast to ...

Re: TCM Premieres....

Something Wild remains one of the most unpredictable and hair-raising viewings I have ever seen. I'm catching up on my Johnathan Demme movies, viewing SWING SHIFT last week. I just requested SOMETHING WILD from my library-I mistakenly thought it was a remake of the movie with Carrol Baker- so thank...

BOT Infestation?

One of the things I like about this board is "who's online" feature. Alas, I'm usually alone at 5am Eastern time. I did notice this AM, 2 "guests" were also on, two BOTS: one had a foreign name I didn't recognize, the other bot was Google. So are these bots looking for keywords t...

Re: TCM On Demand merged with HBO Max?

I could never access TCM on Demand, something about my TV streaming set up. (I can get it on my laptop, but don't watch movies at my work desk) When I go to the HBO "hub" there are scant few TCM movies and LOTS of HBO movies shoved in. The HBO titles are "classics" for 20 year ol...

Re: TCM announces it is sunsetting the TCM Forums

As I mentioned somewhere else on the site, I'm the same Fedya from over on the TCM boards, although I put up an avatar that's actually a picture of me, although it's several years old. My avatar on the TCM boards was the scowling Charles Coburn. Thanks for keeping Coburn in your signature at least,...

Once you see Spider Baby, you'll never forget it.
(I once sang "Santa Baby" with Spider Baby parody lyrics on ukulele at a Christmas party-obviously smashed)

Re: Top Ten Lon Chaney Jr Films

Creighton Chaney is one of those actors that generally elevates anything he's in. He's best when in unrequited love situations, much like his father. I do think he would have been an excellent romantic lead or even support if given more opportunity.

Don't know if I've ever seen this one scheduled this Saturday:

"Creature With The Atom Brain" sounds like a real stinker...but I'll give it a try...
