Welcome Martha Crawford Cantarini

Hi Martha! My horse loves learning "tricks" and people are amazed at what she will do for a piece of candy. I had read the classic stuntman's book about his "falling" horse Cocaine, but just can't believe that. Do you know how to convince a horse to fall while in motion with a ri...

Re: Olivia de Havilland's autobio May 4?

I just hope an explanation of the "feud" between her & her sister is included. Inquiring minds want to know what could have been so awful

Re: The Forum for Questions for Charlie Tabesh

Hi Charlie! I too was interested in your career "road to TCM", thanks for sharing. Since you've worked for several commercial stations, I'd like to know your observations of the differences in working for a non commercial station like TCM. •Can you explain just how you can continue broadca...

Re: Busby Berkeley

I also want to mention my huge disappointment in the Box Set "The Busby Berkeley Collection". Sure, the collection of movies is GREAT, but none of the soundtracks were updated or remastered. I buy DVDs solely on the idea that I'm buying "more" than what I can see broadcast on TV....

Re: REMEMBER THE NIGHT (1940) July 16th

Even though I've seen them a million times, I watched Double Indemnity and then Remember The Night the very next day on TCM. Fun that the two leads were the very same actors, but very different charactors. I just love the scene when Elizabeth Patterson gets out her old dress and Babs says, "You...

Re: Difficulty Accessing Site

Just to let the mods know.....I'm on a Mac and use Safari as my browser. Whenever I tried logging in between May 14-19, I'd be redirected to a site selling silver jewelry. When I press the "back button", it takes me there still. Can anyone explain what the heck is going on here? It happene...

Re: Laughton, Lorre & Friends on Monday, May 4th on TCM

Sorry to go so off topic here but...MST3K... Originally, the way MST came about was to make an entertaining show from films already owned by the local TV station. I think most, if not all were public domain films, which is why you often see educational or advertising shorts included. Another reason ...

Re: ,The Best Character Actors?

Someone mentioned my fave guy Charlie Ruggles. What about Roland Young? I love James Gleason (sometimes seen with wife Lucille) although he always seems to play the same type of charactor. Whereas Thomas Mitchell is very chameleon like, playing a wide variety of charactors. Eve Arden has been mentio...

Re: Carbine Williams (1952)

Good point about Hagen. The Lina Role is so incredible to me. Yeah, especially since I saw her in that role first . I had seen Asphalt Jungle numerous times and never realized she was the same person! Now, if I see her name in the credits I watch the film just to see her performance. Amazing!

Thanks Ollie for the heads up on those sets. Astoundingly I have every title you mentioned already in my complete Mystery Science Theater 3000 collection.

Re: Carnival Story (1954)

Thank you for posting that pic of Jay C Flippen!! I missed the beginning of this movie and there were no end credits. When I saw that face I went straight back to childhood. He must have been in some (many) sci-fi movie I saw as a kid. And Groppo (Ady Berber) was definitely thrown in as a Tor Johnso...

Re: Laughton, Lorre & Friends on Monday, May 4th on TCM

Or do the Best Buy routine - (snipped) Ultimate Sci Fi Colletion boxsets. And those were 5 films for $20 each, and sold quite well. I'm hoping you mean $20 for a set of 5 movies, not $20 each movie! My limit is now <$10 per DVD. I got way too sick of seeing a DVD I paid $15-20 ea for, show up later...

Re: Laughton, Lorre & Friends on Monday, May 4th on TCM

The Big Clock is one of my faves...but I always forget it by the title. Once I see Elsa Lanchester's name in the credits I realize, "this is the movie with the painting of the hands!" I've never seen Payment Deferred , glad it was the earliest broadcast, since I fall asleep later in the e...

Re: Carbine Williams (1952)

I own a completely different poster of this movie....but in all versions they really seem to focus on Stewart's big head. He must have been a big draw for the film. When I spotted these posters at a dealer's table, I yelled across the room like a banshee to the curator of the Jimmie Stewart Museum. ...

A half sheet version of this hangs in my living room: http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/product_images/1010/102196.1010.A.jpg I love Andrews in everything he's done, but especially enjoy him when he's "sensitive" or "troubled" like in Best Years of Our Lives . He has an unusual qu...
