Re: She who knows not fashion
I don't agree with that. Fashion originated as a first impression banner telling others information: gender, social position, lifestyle, etc. Smart people always tried to dress "up' to impress. Fashion is cyclical, now quickly alternating between modern & traditional ie: 70's natural "...

Re: "You look a lot like ....
People always said I resembled Ali McGraw, one of the worst actresses ever, lol. Even looks-wise I never thought she was especially attractive although everyone told me I should be flattered. You should be. Most of the time what people "see" is similar symmetry and one distinctive similar...

Re: I Just Watched...
This movie does however present the idea that Enzo's main competitor in both road car sales and in racing at this time (once again, 1957) were the cars made by the Maserati concern, a firm that actually predates Enzo's firm by a few decades. I love when experts watch movies - they always know the f...

Re: I Just Watched...
We have been revisiting Simon Pegg/Nick Frost movies like Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz the past few weekends. This time around we saw THE WORLD'S END from 2013. The same ensemble cast of charactors and in exactly the same vein of comedy/action/buddy film as the rest. Although much of the comedy is...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I think I discovered De Vol's first use of the musical stinger ("Oo-ee-ee-oooo!") that he would re-use in his scores over the years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW69qoDkdio [/quote] That is the sound you hear whenever I enter a room. I have a question...if you fight for women's rights,...

The People Vs. Larry Flynt (1996) Maybe I'm the wrong person for this. Count me in with ya. Beautifully stated explanation. Half a Sixpence (1967) It's another one of those late 60s musicals that looks better and more charming with age. Never heard of it-THANK YOU a musical is always needed, especi...

Re: I Just Watched...
Last night I watched the first of double noirs recorded from TCM last month spotlighting fave Gloria Grahame directed by Fritz Lang, THE BIG HEAT '53. While I had seen this many years ago had forgotten most of it, so it was a fun rediscovery. The direction was impeccable, the scenes were beautifully...

In the same vein I've been watching AdventuresofSly's mash up videos of Mary Poppins vs Disney trailers. Violent yet still funny to me.

I agree with everyone's posts about CROSSING DELANCY. I only saw it for the first time recently, like the past year or two and found it charming. And yes, this fabulous scene was dropped into the movie like a cannonball in a kiddie pool but for some reason clearly resonates- https://i.ytimg.com/vi/j...

If you're talking about THE BOSTON STRANGLER movie starring Tony Curtis, it may not be a 5 star movie, but I enjoyed it.

I had an interesting experience with a spider once.(snipped)The chapter I was reading when I saw the spider was titled "Evading: Through a Glass Darkly : The God Who Came Out Was a Spider." Sounds like a great psychedelic trip man... https://media.giphy.com/media/l4HnWa5toF8gtBhLO/giphy.gif
