Re: interacting with child stars
Great child performances in so many films.
I'd add Sherry Jackson and Richard Eyer in COME NEXT SPRING, with Ann Sheridan and Steve Cochran as their parents.

Re: An Answer to a question
Nice thread . I just think, by their very nature, favorite films are the ones you can watch more than once. That' s what great about DVD collections. It 's comforting to know these films are sitting on the shelves just waiting to be enjoyed again. It may be 6 months, a year, two years, but you know ...

Re: FREDRIC MARCH
Thanks everyone. I've enjoyed reading all 9 pages on Mr. March. I guess it's no coincidence Fredric is in 4 of my favorite films - such a good actor, though I never think of him in the same leading man category as Cary Grant or James Stewart or Bogart. But I've come to appreciate the quality of his ...

Re: Your favorite character actors
You write so well and pay tribute to all those talented performers. Arent we lucky Hollywood screenwriters wrote such good part for supporting actors. Iris Adrian. I only have to think of her cheery exuberance in LADY OF BURLESQUE. Mary Boland. Madcap, so talented. Just watch her in PRIDE AND PREJUD...

Re: Historic Hollywood Sites
Wow!
Just want to say, a million thanks for this pictorial history of Hollywood and Los Angeles.
Surely in book form, it would be a big seller.

Re: Edward G. Robinson
Enjoyed all the comments on Eddie G. Will watch out for FIVE STAR FINAL. I was pleasantly surprised by one of his films new to me - VICE SQUAD, made in late 50s I think. Robinson is a captain of detectives in a precinct and the plot is really just a day in the life of this man who has to cope with v...

Re: Robert Osborne at home
Such an interesting article on Robert Osborne's NY home, thanks to Moira. Mention of his Sarah Siddons award statue, given to him by Bette Davis Is food for thought if we could have any movie prop we fancied. There's the red shoes, the black bird, the bone from BRINGING UP BABY, anything from CASABLAN...

Re: House Of Strangers
Noir or not, I don't care, just love HOUSE OF STRANGERS. Conte and Hayward a great team, and of course Eddie G. Is excellent. It's such a good plot, it was used at least twice more - BROKEN LANCE and THE BIG SHOW.
I agree Luther Adler is very good.

Re: JOHNNY O'CLOCK (1947)
Glad everyone likes JOHNNY O'CLOCK. I certainly do. Nobody has mentioned Ellen Drew. She really made me sit up and take notice. I thought she had the best female role. Jane Greer couldn't have done it better.
A big part for Thomas Gomez too, such a good actor.
Nice part for John Kellogg too.

Re: A Letter to Three Wives
Thanks to all for all the terrific comments about this wonderful film. Great cast and script. My favorite couple are Linda Darnell and Paul Douglas. Wish Linda had got more roles like this.
As for Thelma Ritter and Connie Gilchrist, what can you say, they light up the screen.

Re: Repeat question, and Rio Lobo
I saw RIO LOBO when it was first released and was SO disappointed at how poor it was ,all down to the script of course. But such a comedown for Wayne and Hawks. You wonder how they could make such a bad western with all their experience.

Re: Open Range
I usually avoid like the plague modern westerns but somehow I did see OPEN RANGE on the big screen and was very impressed and agree with all that has been said about Costner and Benning. As For Robert Duvall, what a performance.

Re: THE NAKED SPUR
[quote="kingrat"]To confuse matters thoroughly, THE NAKED SPUR is my favorite of the James Stewart/Anthony Mann westerns. I like the "chamber western" aspect--like chamber music, with only five characters, not counting the anonymous Indians. Yes, I like it when there is just a sm...
