When I was reading about Sterling Hayden on IMDb, it discussed the fact that he ran guns to Yugoslav partisans. And it also discussed how seriously wounded Durning had been, and that he also had been a POW. Fascinating background info on these fellas. Hope you post another interesting IN COMMON. I d...

THE COUPLE...

Well, page one was a total hoot, guys and gals! Barb does seem to resemble Carolyn "The Opposite Sex" Jones to me (her blonde ambition years). For me, Mr. and Mrs. both look so happy. Like they just paid off the mortgage and burned it in the fireplace while the filled champagne flutes wait...

In Texas, if the mom stayed home with the kids, it was usually a one-story, two bedroom home with one bath if the dad was a day laborer.
( My mom was a secretary for Southern Builders back in the forties
here in Houston, and she talked about the loans, the square footage,
and the lots. )

Dear Judith and pktrkgirl, This is an interesting thread idea. My mom is always reminding me what things cost back in the day because sometimes we watch TCM together and discuss how much it cost to ride the trolley or what a loaf of bread cost. But here is something I actually remember. In 1962-1963...

DORIS BIO INFO...

Doris Day discussed the making of this film a little bit in her bio with A.E. Hotchner and stated that it was very difficult to just jump-start her part with the established Broadway cast because pretty much everyone in the cast had been rehearsing and performing the musical for several months (or m...

Dear Hollis, I always think of Bette and Katherine as two of the most influential. I feel that Bette Davis was fearless in her choice and demand of different, challenging roles, and I think of Katherine Hepburn as being serious in developing vehicles or seeking vehicles for her performances on scree...

Ken 123 : I really enjoy Jack Elam's moments on film. Either as a villain or a sidekick, he always seens to draw attention to his presence.
