Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
. Lomm: Back to Esther Williams. I hope by now you've seen a few more of her movies. It's true that she never did any award winning acting, but her personality carried her in most parts. She was always sunny and charming. Other than The Unguarded Moment and Raw Wind in Eden , she never really tried...

Re: CLAUDETTE COLBERT
One thing I appreciated about it was how quickly we got to the crux of the story. It's probably not three minutes in and they are already on the escape from the ship. How I miss that technique. Why should it be 15 minutes before we begin to give a ****? 15 minutes? I'd be happy to wait only that lo...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Last night I watched Esther Williams' Million Dollar Mermaid, having just finished her autobiography. It's a good thing she was such a talented showperson as a swimmer, because as an actress, she's...well, a good swimmer.
I hadn't seen her in anything before.

Re: CLAUDETTE COLBERT
I enjoyed Four Frightened People, improbable as it may have been, plot-wise. Been a while since I watched it, so I may have glossed over some of the more glaring faults. But IMO, if you like the period and the stars, and ignore that it's a DeMille movie (due to expectations of spectacle he brings), ...

Re: Odd thought of new movies.
I think that distinctive split has always been in place since the advent of the spectacle action blockbuster. I see what you're getting at, but I don't think the smaller screens of phones and tablets will be a factor any more than they have been in the past.

Re: Marilyn Monroe
Bumping up the Marilyn thread in case anyone is interested in this great deal. I don't know how much longer it's going on. Nine films on blu-ray for only $40! I couldn't pass it up even though I already own the Misfits. I've seen all of them as she's one of my favorites, but never bought them, waiti...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I quite enjoyed The Marrying Kind and it led me down the road to all of Judy Holliday's films. While her voice is certainly an...acquired taste, once I got used to it I found her a delightful actress. I was disappointed she didn't make more films. Anyway, yesterday I watched a little known film call...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Fredi Washington --- wow! Rerun, love that pic. As usual I blunder along here in ignorance and have to ask what connection your mom had with those people. :) I think it's fascinating how a number of you have personal knowledge or even acquaintance with some old Hollywood stars. Anecdotes are always...
