Re: Atypical Movies

I believe that: The Black Cauldron (1985) was very atypical movie. Disney was known as studio for delightful and innocent children's movies. Violence was comic and never serious. This movie was great departure from that legacy. Villains were serious and truly frightening. Threats were very real. Eve...

Re: What recent films have you seen?

I have watched now: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002). The last movie in the trilogy is on the DVR but it is doubtful that I shall watch it. I have long avoided the movies because I love the novels so very much and I knew that ...

Re: Mosfilm on YouTube

Formula of Love (1984) is wonderful romantic comedy. A boy in first bloom of hormones loves and desires deeply a woman who is personification of poise, beauty and refinement. The unfortunate aspect to their relationship is that she is a marble statue standing in the woods on his family estate. Ente...

Re: Atypical Movies

I believe that: Les Enfants Terribles (1950) is very atypical movie.

I feel it is nearly documentary of whims. It is of confusion and determination. It is of clinging to innocence while relishing depravity.

Re: All alone in this vast wilderness

There's something else I've found. I've been posting about movies for ten tears now. I'm not seeing many I haven't seen before. Consequently, I've said just about all I have to say. I must wonder if you might find interest in movies which are not common. I am posting in: http://silverscreenoasis.co...

Re: Mosfilm on YouTube

The Golden Key (1939) is wonderful fantasy. It is combination of live-action and stop-motion-animation to tell story of innocent charm. It speaks to world where highest goals are to have wide rivers, all children go to school and elderly are respected and given good care. [youtube]http://www.youtub...

Re: Mosfilm on YouTube

Two Army Comrades (1968) is very touching and very compelling story of disparate individuals thrown together in war who become friends despite their differences. It shows well how people serve higher cause while trying to simply do what is expected of them. [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z...

Re: Atypical Movies

I feel: Happy End (1967) is typical of a certain class of Czech movies of its period in that it has no typical nor predictable elements. It is simple story of life of a butcher. It is complex because it is told from end to beginning. English subtitles are available by using: Settings -> Subtitles/CC...

Re: Mosfilm on YouTube

The Forty-First (1956) is classic story of two people with strong convictions meeting under unfortunate circumstances and falling in love. I find it quite touching. I applaud that the ending is true to her personality and absolutely necessary even although it is not typical happy ending. [youtube]h...
