Re: POLL: Do you want a Like button?

No. He hasn't turned up here or at the other site, but he was posting till the end. Vautrin said he was going to take a break until after the holidays and then try it out here, maybe. I feel kind of bad for bringing him up just to make a joke, and then he got dragged a bit. I usually thought he was...

Re: Destry Rides Again!

I attended Marlene's one-person shows in New York twice, in 1967 and 1968. She was wonderful, and of course sang "The Boys in the Back Room." A musical version, with music and lyrics by Harold Rome, played on Broadway for over a year 1959-1960. Dolores Gray played Frenchy, the Dietrich rol...

Re: Do you want a Like button?

I was simply curious what caused this site to go "dark", while the TCM message board continued until the plug was pulled. There were occasional new users at the TCM board, but not many, and most quit after a short time. It was primarily the same group of people who had been posting for ma...

Re: POLL: Do you want a Like button?

Forgive me for not having read all the comments here, I thought this was merely a "poll" thread. Is Vautrin dead? The comments sound like eulogies!

Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur in History Is Made at Night (1937). Their chemistry is amazing, sorry it was their only pairing.

If you click on the link to your Profile, you will go to a screen where there is a link to "Search user's posts." If you click on that link, you go to screen where your posts are listed. From there you have the option to "Jump to post" to view the specific post. Yes, I've been d...

Re: An old Scottish movie Bill Travers

Bill Travers had many family connections in film. His sister was Linden Travers, who was on the train in The Lady Vanishes. His niece, Susan Travers, played The Snake Woman . And of course Bill Travers was married to Virginia McKenna. https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/2HUAAOxyaqlSRYoQ/s-l500.jpg Linden...

Re: Request for Like/Thank Button

The fact that there may have been a couple of posters who got off on how many "likes" they got, is a red herring. It doesn't diminish the value of the "like" button for users of the button.

Re: Familiar faces, new forum

I have a little trouble navigating here. For example, if I post something that's in one of the "Recent Topics" section, I find that I can't locate the thread easily later, because I don't remember (or didn't notice) what topic it was in. If you click on the link to your Profile, https://i...
The Thread is identified for each post in the Recent Topics, for instance this one is 'Registration and Rules, Welcome New Members." Does that help at all?
I think my problem is unfamiliarity with the "Recent Topics" section. It's a good concept and will just take so...

Navy Blues (1941)

I've been a huge fan of Navy Blues since it played on Million Dollar Movie when I was a wee lad. It's a musical comedy about sailors and girls in Waikiki in 1941. Of course there was a little problem related to the fact that a comedy about sailors in Hawaii that opened in September 1941 was never go...

Re: My favorite film: Gee!! I never noticed THAT before...

One of my favorite films (certainly in my top 5) is Anthony Adverse (1936). I've seen it numerous times and thought I noticed just about everything. But relatively recently, something in a scene near the top of the movie sunk in, in a way it hadn't before. Maria (Anita Louise) is married to old, cro...
