Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???

Ben is Scooter who owes his job as gofer to the fact that his uncle owns the theatre. Alicia is Sweetums whose outward appearance belies a good heart. Dave is The Swedish Chef who can not at all times be understood clearly but remains continually enjoyable to watch. Maybe the hosts should do a prom...

That is only the case if one is a kicker for the K.C. Chiefs.
One who is "straight" supposedly, but I'm not convinced.

Re: I Just Watched...

The subject matter o f THE GODFATHER holds no interest to me and the movie itself was not captivating enough for me to ignore that. I really struggled to finish the movie when I had to watch it for a class in college. I think I watched it in fifteen or twenty minutes intervals over a period of a fe...

Re: I Just Watched...

Yes, Alma is back as a Spanish name, pronounced "Ahlma." The name from the past was "you can call me Al-ma." What movie character was named Alma? I seem to remember one. Don't forget Thelma Ritter in Pillow Talk! "You're my inspiration.... Alma!" The sweetie and I love...

Re: I Just Watched...

I do not care for THE GODFATHER. I've never seen THE TAKING OF PELHAM 123 I’m curious as to why you don’t like the Godfather. I’m not mad at this opinion mind you, it’s *perfectly valid one.* I’m OK with it but I thought Marlon Brando sucked. I’m not always a good predictor of what people will, and...

Re: I Just Watched...

ALSO ALSO Yes, THE BEGUILED i s great... there is SOMETHING INTRIGUING about PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW e ven if it is a confounding movie on multiple levels. i recently rewatched PICNIC AT HANGING ROCK and while I don't have a clue what it's really all about, I don't dislike it. I only included Ame...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???

I highly doubt it. 40 Guns is a Fox now Disney film. But they paid to broadcasat it and it never aired. You could be right; Here is what someone just posted at the other movie website: I just visited the TCM library. FORTY GUNS is on the library and I checked it out - it plays fine - also with Spie...

...1971 - 1975 is one of my favorite periods of American cinema. So many movies that I love and that I can watch over and over again were released in those years. THE LAST PICTURE SHOW THE BEGUILED KLUTE McCABE & MRS. MILLER PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW FIDDLER ON THE ROOF ... CABARET ... AMERICAN...

Re: What Horror and Sc-Fi films have you seen lately?

Well, it only took 19 months, but I finally finished the first season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire . And, although that season only takes one about halfway through Anne Rice's original novel, I find it better than both its source novel and its 1994 cinematic predecessor. In my opinion, using...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Well it's certainly full of sound and fury... But I wouldn't say signifying nothing. (Yes, I know that part is from Shakespeare not Faulkner.) The sweetie and I watched it on Watch TCM with an introduction by Martin Scorsese. We enjoyed it, especially the ending. We did think that the movie poster ...

[quote=Hibi post_id=200675 time=1716226502 user_id=849 The early 70s was not a good period for movies. As the 70s progressed it got better. See, i feel the exact opposite- as someone who has come late to viewing films of the 70s, the early 70s and especially 1971 have a lot of interesting and fasci...
