Typo, should have been the Natalie Wood/Roz Russell one from 1962. Hated the Bette Midler one.

Re: In my own little world
Tree services we contacted were not enthusiastic about removing the other three stumps. They were a variety of maple known for its particular hardness. Their size means that a larger than normal model of stump grinder would have to be rented and it would be very slow going even if the grinder had c...

Re: AFI's 25 GREATEST MOVIE MUSICALS OF ALL TIME
I was pleasantly surprised the first version of Show Boat made it, it is so much better than the 1951 version. Agree strongly even though I liked seeing it in color. -------- Personally, I'd yank The Wizard of Oz (1939), Cabaret (1972), Mary Poppins (1964), and definitely Moulin Rouge (2001). I kno...

Re: In my own little world
This is the stump which vexes me. That must have been a huge tree. Stump removal sure can be a headache. Have several smaller ones here too. We could dig them out with the backhoe on our small tractor, but just need them down enough for sod, so will just hire a stump grinder at some point in time. ...

Re: Favorite one word title movies
I've seen the majority of these listed so far and the thought crossed my mind that as a group, the 1 word title ones tend to be better movies. Strange.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Sean Connery was one of those actors who really improved the more he aged. ... hes really at his best later on in Robin and Marian and The Russia House. Agree about Sean (although I haven't seen THE RUSSIA HOUSE or ROBIN AND MARIAN). Agree about Sean getting better with age. Wasn't excited about Ro...

A removalist. The hat. So funny! One of my favorite movies.Bronxgirl48 wrote: ↑April 30th, 2024, 8:47 pmCameron makes a funny but all too brief appearance as gangster Rojak trying to shut down King Kaiser's (Joseph Bologna) mob sketch in MY FAVORITE YEAR. Who knew he could do comedy as well?

Re: In my own little world
Sounds like quite a variety there. Been planting here too, but it's tomatoes, peppers and a few zucchini, cukes, & Romano beans. Not a big fan of beans, but since I can't buy these flat Italian ones fresh or frozen here, I plant some. Lots of different varieties of the tomatoes & peppers and...

The Freshman (1990) A first year New York film student (Matthew Broderick) meets a "Godfather" look alike (Marlin Brando) and becomes his errand boy. Not a Brando or gangster film fan, but based on SSO comments that this was a comedy take on The Godfather (1972) , decided to try it. Have ...

As for Holden and Diane, there are numerous big name shows I either haven't seen or don't like. I barely know Seinfeld or Big Bang Theory. Okay, The Simpsons too. Another trifecta for me! Haven't seen any of those 3 either. :smiley_shades: Probably 'cause I mostly don't like sitcoms or animated stu...

With the Roman scenery, Suzanne Pleschette, Angie Dickinson, Rossano Brassi, Constance Ford and the song Al Di La, who even noticed him from the paint? Even Suzanne gave him the brush soon after.

Re: Solar Eclipse?
Lots of clouds here, low and high, but the celestial gods were kind and the low ones cleared at exactly the right moment and we got to see the main event through the light upper clouds. One of my solar tiki lights came on. 😁 Tried to take cell phone pics, but mine is just too low res to show anythin...
