Re: I Just Watched...

Field of Dreams. Had not seen for about seventeen years. This is such a strange film with so many weird juxtapositions veering from sentiment to sixties nostalgia. It is kind of good at moments especially during Burt Lancaster's scene, but overall it and its success are mystifying

The thing i remember most about Condor was being haunted by the resolute dignity displayed by one of the doomed coworkers as she addresses her killers in her final moments Tina Chen played that part and i have never forgotten her

Re: September 2024 Schedule Posted, Lauren Bacall is SOTM

I wonder if one of those TBD slots for Bacall is The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996), the film that was her only Oscar acting nomination. It was conspicuously absent when she was SOTM 10 years ago, and certainly we've been seeing a lot of "newer" titles on the channel recently.

Florence Foster Jenkins is on TCM?!? Already!?! It's definitely Meryl's best film and performance of the 2010s, but its only 8 years old! And I saw it in the theatre.....

I was actually just about to post about Bob's passing. He will be greatly missed as he was one of TV's best comics.

Re: I Just Watched...

Again, I've mostly been busy trying to finish up the wonderful TV series The Practice, but I made time for two films in the TCM on Demand section that the cable company offers. I can't say it fully worked.... The Woman on Pier 13 (1949) was meant to be the first anti-Communist film to come out of Ho...

Michael Ontkean made a number of obscure films, so perhaps it is correct that playing the gay husband in Making Love (1982) was bad for his career. According to Wiki, other actors approached for the part were Tom Berenger, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, William Hurt, and Peter Strauss. His lover i...

Re: I Just Watched...

I had a very weird moment today with a TV episode. For the last ten days or so, I've geen gunning my way through the 1997-2004 series The Practice, which I decided that having been impressed by the opening seasons on Hulu a while back, I thought I should finish. Well, that turned out to be costly, ...
