Re: I Just Watched...

I think the reason Geraldine Page's character (Big Sister) was not that big in the movie is because it's not in the novel. Great scene though. I didn't realize that the BIg Sister character was created just for the movie. the "novel" THE DAY OF THE LOCUST is based on is the thinnest littl...

Re: I Just Watched...

Dateline, The People vs. OJ Simpson Nobody benefitted more from those two brutal murders in my opinion than Chris Kardashian and her trashy family. Someone else might have benefitted too in an indirect way. The murders occurred in a house that was right across the street from where 30s actress Glor...

...a commercial even more disgusting than the Lume lady. Sheba cat food. A mother sits enthralled with the family feline in their living room when young son calls out to her upstairs. "Mom, I fell!" -- "There are bandages in the cabinet" -- "Mom, I'm bleeding!" -- &quo...

Re: I Just Watched...

Rewatched some films in the last few days that were either on demand or were airing live on the channel.... Charade was still as good as ever, The Major and the Minor is still very amusing, Agatha wasn't quite as good as i remembered although Vanessa Redgrave still gave a deeply committed performanc...

He had a lovely nude scene in Entertaining Mr. Sloane, which I saw many years ago at the Cherry Lane Theatre. https://www.chisholm-poster.com/large/CL70851.jpg Maxwell Caufield must have enjoyed removing his clothes. On the DVD set for Dynasty II: The Colbys, he admitted in an interview (filmed in ...

I do enjoy it very much, and Maxwell Caulfield was so gorgeous. Who cared if he couldn't act, lol. Indeed! Hubba hubba . . . I'll add in to the chorus of praise for The Day of the Locust (1975). It's truly the lost masterpiece of the 70s. Perhaps the hellish, high intensity ending scared people away, but the film is extraordinary.

My cable company didn't add the channel till a few years later so I missed all that. And three posters here (myself, LostHorizons, Bagel) weren't even born at the time the channel went live. But I am so grateful it is still here.... even if I do wish that they would put a temporary moratorium on Do...

The movie has a Hallmark ending before they were into TV movies.
I love that movie. Just a charming little film, and Geraldine Page has one of her best parts in it.

Re: I Just Watched...

Who did BETH HOWLAND aka VERA aka DINGBAT play on MURDER SHE WROTE?!? It was a small role in a later episode where she played a housekeeper whose habit of watering the plants helped to unravel the mystery in part; the episode was Lone Witness in Season 9 (AKA the Neil Patrick Harris episode) ARE YO...

Still waiting for CALL ME BWANA.
Bachelor in Paradise is one of the better 60s Bob Hope films because it is genuinely funny. He and Lana made a good pair here, and of course Paula Prentiss was her usual professional self.

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

We're almost at the exact hour of TCM's first sign-on. They signed on the air at 6 p.m. EDT on 14 April 1994. My cable company didn't add the channel till a few years later so I missed all that. And three posters here (myself, LostHorizons, Bagel) weren't even born at the time the channel went live...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

I just had the "pleasure" of getting rid of most of the channels in my TV line-up as a cost saving technique. Oh well, at least they allowed me to keep TCM.

Re: I Just Watched...

Beth Howland, the original Amy in Company ("Getting Married Today"), played Vera on Alice . Linda Lavin sang (well, sort of) the title song for the show. And don't forget, appeared on an episode of MURDER, SHE WROTE! (playing another annoying character, her stock in trade!) Beth Howland, ...

Re: April 2024 Schedule Posted, Marlon Brando is SOTM

Wow. I'm amazed they are that low. They seem to go in cycles then switch to something else to beat us over the head with. The channel itself seems to take advantage of windows of opportunities. I recall that in the early 2010s, they kept premiering all sorts of 20th Century Fox films, some only onc...
