Re: May 2024 Schedule Posted, Asian Stars featured

TCM has posted an article on their website that explains a special theme for May called "The Art of Artifice," which I could try to summarize as how the movies make fictional places and stories seem real: https://www.tcm.com/articles/Programming%20Article/021901/the-art-of-artifice The Art...

Re: June 2024 Schedule Posted

The Anatole Litvak tribute includes The Long Night and The Journey. Has The Long Night ever been shown on Noir Alley? The Peter Lorre tribute includes Three Strangers and Hotel Berlin, both of which I would be happy to see again. Three Strangers also belongs on Noir Alley, as does a film scheduled ...

Re: Noir Alley

When was it on last? I missed it. Haven't seen it in a couple of years. Love the apartment set, and Agnes Moorehead never looked better on screen. Dark Passage was last shown on TCM on September 30, 2023, as part of a Saturday afternoon lineup. (There were 2 other showings prior to that in 2023.) E...

Re: I Just Watched...

I just watched The Young Lions . About the ending... Do you just shoot someone coming out of the woods before you see if they are armed or not? And after you kill them, do you just leave the body there without checking for identification? These guys are just walking along the road, so it's not like ...

Re: Noir Alley

For those who might have missed it, the Neo-Noir series on TCM was a special theme on Fridays in July, 2021. Each week Ben and Eddie would introduce and discuss three films classified as Neo-Noir. It seemed to be a joint project they had worked out together, and TCM promoted it as an offshoot of Noi...

Re: Coming up on TCM...

I found this in a review for the VHS version of Bugsy Malone : "The film was released in late 1976 to positive reviews. It currently holds a score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite the positive critical reception, Bugsy Malone was not a commercial success in the US, bringing in just over $2.7 ...

It appears that YouTube has a pretty good print of The Gun Runners (1958), so we can check it out there.

Re: Streaming on Criterion in April.

It sounds like the Criterion streaming app could use the equivalent of an 'info' button that would show you the title of the film that is currently playing. Here's a link for the possibility that Disney may follow suit with dedicated channels: https://www.engadget.com/disney-may-add-cable-style-stre...
