Re: Noir Alley

Thanks. That's a lot of repeats! The wraparounds for Where Danger Lives seemed new to me. I hope Eddie isn't running out of Noir material..... I looked at the wraparounds Eddie did for Where Danger Lives the first time it was shown on Noir Alley back in January of 2018. Eddie had Robert Mitchum's s...

Re: Noir Alley

It looks like this weeks Noir Alley is a rerun. Haven't they showed this before? Wonder if it will have new wraparounds. Yes, it is a repeat. Two more Noir Alley repeats have also been scheduled for May. Here is the updated schedule: 03-23 Where Danger Lives (1950) (repeat) 03-30 Pushover (1954) (r...

Re: Streaming on Criterion in April.

I looked through the list of films included in the "Peak Noir" theme: The Asphalt Jungle (1950) Born to Be Bad (1950) The Breaking Point (1950) Caged (1950) The Damned Don't Cry (1950) The File on Thelma Jordon (1950) Gun Crazy (1950) In a Lonely Place (1950) Night and the City (1950) No W...

Re: Noir Alley

Sadly I don't have WatchTCM. Oh well. Le Samourai is also currently available on MAX streaming, and there are $3.99 rentals on several services. Plus the Criterion Channel has a 7-day free trial if one is so inclined: https://www.criterionchannel.com/checkout/subscribe/purchase Banishment and stoni...

Re: Coming up on TCM...

The Big Combo would be a good fit for Noir Alley - Eddie did a commentary for the Arrow Academy Blu-Ray released in Great Britain in 2018. (I hope there would not be a conflict if Eddie presented his insights on TCM.)

Re: I Just Watched...

There have been a few rewatches the last few days (The Best of Everything, Lucy Gallant, Lover Come Back), but only two new first time offerings: The River Niger (1976): James Earl Jones and Cicely Tyson are wonderful at their work, but despite their valiant efforts with their typically fine perfor...

Re: Noir Alley

My concerns about TCM showing several Noir Alley repeats in April have been allayed. It appears these might be part of the TCM 30th Anniversary celebration. Late on April 13th/early on April 14th, Eddie is presenting some of an introduction he did with Robert Osborne along with a new intro for The B...

Re: I Just Watched...

TCM finally showed a very nice version of Lucy Gallant (1955) on Wednesday evening. In the past it has always been 4x3 'fullscreen', but this time it was shown in the widescreen technicolor presentation it was made for. Lucy Gallant is available on WatchTCM through March 21 if you missed it.

Re: Noir Alley

I don’t want to be an alarmist, but I am a bit concerned about Noir Alley. - TCM has apparently given up Eddie’s Noir Alley set and exiled him to a bar in San Francisco. - The dedicated Noir Alley web site is gone and has been reduced to a single page on the TCM web site. - Was there any sign of Edd...

Re: TCM & Ben's podcasts...

The One Handshake Away podcast is also a good one for classic movie fans. (TCM promoted this podcast back in February.) https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/one-handshake-away-peter-bogdanovich-and-the/id1728742759 The idea of the series is to combine recorded conversations Peter Bogdanovich had in...

Re: TCM Premieres....

I hope nobody is insulted by this, but I wonder if people might confuse Goodbye Charlie with the film The Rat Race , another comedy that stars both Debbie Reynolds and Tony Curtis that was made in the 60’s. The Rat Race (1960) has been shown on TCM 5 times in the past, all during the year 2008 but n...

Re: TCM Premieres....

Abour Goodbye Charlie I do not recall watching it on TCM but even if I am a Curtis completist,I did not like it that much,I joined TCM in 2005 but it is possible it played_(I would have been surprised) I had seen it in the late 80'S I know it played on AMC in feb 2004 though! Too bad the movie coll...
