Re: Streaming on Criterion in April.

Playtime ('76) Tati's film. I've seen it and have the DVD, but there I am hooked. Sort of. But then I gave it up and went back to whatever I was doing before. But it took some effort.

Re: I Just Watched...

Since we don't have an "autosenselessor" that's not a problem. Or do we have one? This word in quotes was coined by our fine friend but lamentably absent MissWonderly. //// we do have one, that's why I made it one word portmanteau style. Man, I hope MISS WONDERLY is doin okay out there, w...

Re: I Just Watched...

I had the "Elaine at The English Patient " experience with Pirates of the Caribbean . People had low expectations of the film, based as it was on a Disney theme park ride, but because it was better than that, suddenly it became a phenomenon. When I saw it, I was expecting a really enterta...

Re: Solar Eclipse?

Edmund : I am thinking, brother, of a prediction I read this other day, what should follow these eclipses. Edgar : Do you busy yourself with that? Edmund : I promise you, the effects he writes of succeed unhappily: as of unnaturalness between the child and the parent; death, dearth, dissolutions of...

Re: Noir Alley

I liked Nancy Coleman. She was not spectacular, not even that good but not that bad either. I had never seen her before and at least she was a fresh face who was certainly passable. The final scenes were more that terrible. This was a B movie right? Everybody wanted to know who Mr. X was. I was wait...

Re: Films that made you cry

About 35 years ago, I made the "mistake" of telling a group of buddies, we were milling about after some meeting or ruther, that Dumbo made me cry. Man, did they get on my case, or what! Some razzing, but it was okay, I was a little defensive but feelings were not all that hurt. Then, some...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

Anyone feel the earthquake? My building shook. I didn't because I am in San Diego. Yeah, haha. We are still waiting for the Big One. If it's going to happen in my lifetime it had better hurry. Maybe I'll be floating in the Pacific ere I shuffle off this mortal coil. Were you in NYC when a hurricane...
