Re: Noir Alley
And exactly the reason I've been saying for years now that I hope Eddie will eventually get around to featuring some Neo-Noir films as well. (...I'd love to hear what he could tell us about movies such as 'Chinatown' and 'L.A. Confidential', or lesser known ones such as 'Red Rock West' and 'The Las...

For some reason the eerie face-like shape on the tree up there reminded me of the following close-up of the wallpaper during an especially spooky scene that director Robert Wise put in his 1963 film 'The Haunting'... https://external-preview.redd.it/IPD03asaRrzVaXziPOdlXQBvyF30c8CMyAnxBYyXbsM.jpg?fo...

"There's energy in chocolate. Ah need energy." https://i.imgur.com/PsMOMrL.png https://i.imgur.com/ojtNi1V.png I watched this one (TBNB) again tonight on TCM after probably over 25 years since my last viewing of it. The first time was when it was originally released back in '76. Man, I ca...

So Bronxie, have I ever told ya that when I was young, I'd sometimes confuse Richard Egan with Phil Carey?Bronxgirl48 wrote: ↑April 20th, 2024, 9:37 pm Dargo! LOL I'd rather have quick clinches in the night with Richard Egan!

I always laugh at Beulah's prurient little speech to Dorothy about getting involved with a married man. "The quick clinches in the night....." https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vrNXE98qJik/XVEdc3tA0aI/AAAAAAAAKm8/nQfo31G0BcobU0XgU5F12nnlmHpTF5OmgCLcBGAs/s1600/frank-sinatra.gif "Clinches in ...

As a Jew, I know I definitely related to Fran's "I just wanted to eat bacon" remark on THE NANNY. LOL Yeah, I can see this, Holden. I mean who DOESN'T like bacon, right?! Although in this, I would assume the word "shellfish" or "ham" might've worked almost as well, huh...

Re: I Just Watched...
There is actually wisdom in The Nanny , i.e. a combination of Jewish foibles and Jewish wisdom. Seinfeld and Enthusiasm are just shtick. In terms of Woody Allen, I love much of his work, particularly Radio Days, Manhattan, Annie Hall, A Rainy Day in New York, etc. I even like What's Up, Tiger Lily?...

I live in New England now, ( Fla too sometimes) but grew up in the Bronx and loved Designing Women, never missed an episode. Cybill. Murphy Brown and Designing Women were favorites at that time. I do think you're making a good point about regional comedy, although I like to think I can appreciate m...

Dargo. we must have posted at the same time. My response was knocked out! My post was lengthy and I'm too tired to repost. All I can say Swithin and Holden is To each his own Hey! In THAT case, I wonder if Holden and Swithin might like THAT old tearjerker. It's one of MY favorites, anyway! Miss Oli...

Re: I Just Watched...
So interesting. Everyone I know loved Seinfeld. Thought the show was hilarious. It's only on this site and our old TCM site that I've experienced negative comments about the show. I agree, the show had a lot of NY humor. The Dick Van Dyke Show was like that too. Yes, Jewish humor on both shows. If ...

Fair enough, Dargo. But maybe you're more a fan of "Girl For All Seasons/(Love Will) Turn Back The Hands Of Time," which features Judy Garland's other daughter as the Girl For Summer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2ayatkkpG8 Eeh, not bad I suppose, Holden. However when it comes to this...

Re: OBITUARIES
All that I knew of it is that police on the chase first arrested John Elway because the APB said to stop a slow-moving white Bronco. The office wit spent a great deal of time mansplaining why his joke was the most funny ever. I might have had a hint of an inkling that: 'OJ' was a sports figure. The...
