Re: Screen Presence
How about the following two from Hollywood's more recent past. Neither of whom I would consider as being "handsome" in the classical sense, but who still seem to dominate almost every scene that they're in by use of this thing called "Screen Presence". First, a two-time Oscar win...

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!
I grow tired of seeing Dargo's favorite film every chance TCM can show it. "The Best Years of Our Lives" plays at least 6 times a year. I'm not a fan of war movies and have to agree, TCM loves to show older movies. Memorial Day is the beginning of Summer. Play Summertime movies. Mix it up...

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!
If they showed Vietnam movies there would be so many asking why they’re showing newer movies. There is no pleasing people. True, however I have noticed TCM showing a lot of post-studio era films of late, and not that I think there's any problem with that. And now for one more comment about that sor...

Next : vigilante gets his revenge This might not exactly be what you meant here Kay, but the first thought that came to my mind in this regard was: 'The Ox-Bow Incident', and where Henry Fonda reads aloud Dana Andrews' last letter to his wife in that saloon and thus makes all the vigilantes who had...

Re: Noir Alley
This weekend's Noir Alley selection is Bad for Each Other (1953), starring Charlton Heston, Lizabeth Scott, and Dianne Foster. As part of TCM's Memorial Day Weekend Marathon theme, the film has Charlton Heston playing an Army colonel and doctor who returns home to Pennsylvania on leave after servin...

Nice finger poking the prickly pear. ;) Yeah, I noticed that after I posted the pic. Your situation seems much less expensive, worrisome and labour-intensive than what we are experiencing. Yep, as you can imagine, desert flora is a lot easier to take care of than are your usual perennials. It's pre...

With all this talk of flora here, I thought I'd offer up a few pics of the local color that are coming into bloom at the moment around here "in my own little (part of the) world"... The first is the Prickly Pear cactus in our front yard... https://i.imgur.com/Youizvh.jpeg And, the followin...

Re: Noir Alley
Happens all the time. The bad guys are sadists or have a bizarre sense of humor and come up with some elaborate way to kill people instead of just shooting them in the head. Simplify, simplify. Yeah, I really enjoyed that sequence. Why not just shoot them? Much easier. Yep, pretty much just a varia...
