Coming up on June 4 is The Velvet Touch , which is somewhat like All About Eve as a film noir. Rosalind Russell plays the famous actress. Theater life isn't always pleasant, and a murder ensues. Is The Velvet Touch a TCM premiere? It is an RKO film and thus was part of the former Turner library of ...

Yea, that is one first rate action scene that adds suspense to this couple on the run film.

https://i.imgur.com/pxGqXPh.jpg Bill Walton (1952-1973) RIP Yea, Walton will be missed. I met Walton once. It was my first concert; A Grateful Dead one at UCLA's Pauley Pavillion back in the early 70s. My other bro and his friends took me. We had good seats, but I complained to my bro that this big...

Looks like Tomorrow is Another Day is the Noir Alley feature (Saturday, midnight and again Sunday at 10:00 AM EDT). The first-rate noir, Gun Crazy is being shown Saturday, at 9:45 PM EDT, and Cast a Dark Shadow, a British mystery\thriller, Sunday at 8:30 AM EDT. I like Tomorrow is Another Day with ...

Re: July 2024 Schedule Posted, Eva Marie Saint is SOTM

As part of the Eva Marie Saint tribute, I would like to see The Trip to Bountiful . The very first production of that Horton Foote play took place on NBC-TV in 1953 and starred Lillian Gish, Eva Marie Saint, Eileen Heckert, and John Beal. Later in 1953, it opened on Broadway with Lillian Gish and E...

That is one interesting take. If that is the case by the end of the film, his name should be changed to a disease that is more fatal!

Depending on how one defines a noir film, Lizabeth Scott was in 9 noir films (and Bad for Each Other is NOT one of them), and was a femme fatale in only 2: Strange Loves of Martha Ivers - No Dead Reckoning - Yes Desert Fury - No I Walk Alone - No Pitfall - No Too Late for Tears - Yes Dark Corner - N...

I guess duplicative names were a thing for a hot minute? Berry Berry, Humbert Humbert As for the use of Berry-Berry in All Falls Down: I have always assumed the duplicate first name, was a sign of affection. One name wasn't enough to show how much they loved the child, so give him duplicate first n...

Re: Coming up on TCM...

I guess I'm different. I grew up hating Fred MacMurray because of the Disney films and didn't become a fan until I saw Double Indemnity.

(and of course all of us are using "hating" very loosely).

Re: Vietnam War essentially ignored - Again!

If they showed Vietnam movies there would be so many asking why they’re showing newer movies. There is no pleasing people. True, however I have noticed TCM showing a lot of post-studio era films of late, and not that I think there's any problem with that. And now for one more comment about that sor...
