Re: Theater
The entrance to the Savoy Theatre/Hotel, with its little cul-de-sac, was an asset for the outdoor work for Sunset . It's too bad they couldn't get the Shubert in NYC. Shubert Alley would have been useful for part of the street scene. https://static.prod.r53.tablethotels.com/media/hotels/slideshow_i...

Re: Coming up on TCM...
I'm hoping the festival has some of these "retro" interstitials to show before screenings. Their recent ones kind of have the same vibe as the network bumpers (modern, bland).

Re: Theater
"There's been a call. (What did I say?) They want to see me Right away!" I bought tickets today at the pre-sale for Jamie Lloyd's revival of SUNSET BLVD that's transferring from the West End to Broadway this fall. So the sweetie and I will be in New York in October! Our 10-year anniversar...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Yeah, I guess GC would qualify as a guilty pleasure for me....even if I don't really think of it as such....(that would be something like BELA LUGOSI MEETS A BROOKLYN GORILLA -- yes, it's a real movie) I've got DIVORCE AMERICAN STYLE on, mainly because I'm waiting for WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH HELEN? ...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Yeah but Fedya, you have to remember here that FitzPatrick says this about (and how he pronouces it in that short) "Los ANGLE-less" in the year (and how for some reason he always denotes years) "nineteen hundred AND thirty-five", and all said in that (has always been hard for me...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
LOL. I'm reminded of the line from the Traveltalks short Around the World in California in which James FitzPatrick informs us how Los Angeles "has a population of several thousand Mexicans...." Yeah but Fedya, you have to remember here that FitzPatrick says this about (and how he pronouce...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
No one enjoyed Walter Matthau as Sartori? I'm crushed, lol. But seriously, I guess I'm still the only one around there who really likes GOODBYE CHARLIE. Oh, well! At least there were no p.c. lectures at the intro or outro! That's always a good thing! Call it your guilty pleasure. Mine is Divorce Am...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Does anyone know when or why Ellen Burstyn changed her name? She hadn't hit it big when I first saw this so I didn't know who she was (or would be) at the time. According to Wiki: --1932: born Edna Rae Gillooly [now you know why she changed her name!] --flunks out of high school her senior year; wo...

Re: M*A*S*H The TV Show
One of my favorite TV shows, I thought I would start this to get others' opinions on anything about it. One thing I would like to talk about is the replacements in the cast, which one was funnier. 1. Wayne Rogers (Trapper John McIntyre) or Mike Farrell (B.J Hunnicut.?) I preferred Trapper and I tho...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
So who watched Goodbye Charlie? Despite the Mank saying it was a premiere. I still say they aired it before. (I doubt he researches what they write for him to say) Yay or Nay? (I recorded it). Have it DVRed. Saw it many many years ago on local TV though. I don't know if it truly is a TCM premiere, ...

Re: In my own little world
The floorplan of our house does not lend itself to a secret room. We have as yet four hundred and thirty-seven projects yet to do. We can not afford the eleven hundred to eighteen hundred dollars to buy this. https://i.imgur.com/72Hw4p3.jpg I have a feeling we soon will have four hundred and thirty...

Re: I Just Watched...
I am enclosing box-office stats for the year so you can go through the titles and judge the year yourself.... I thank you for posting that list despite the danger such things entail. I have lived many happy years with no knowledge of the existence of: The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik...

Re: I Just Watched...
Larry Hart's sophisticated lyrics have often been tampered with. The original (and my favorite) version of "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" was sung by Vivienne Segal in the original Broadway production of Pal Joey . The song includes these lines: Until I could sleep where I shouldn’...

As an older gay man, I use the word "queer" in the way that African Americans may use the "N" word. I'm on the alumni committee of my university and also work with young actors and find the word "queer" is used by younger men almost as much as they use the word "g...
