Re: Your Favorite Film Critics/Reviewers

I liked reading Pauline Kael, but my favorite was Stanley Kauffmann. I didn't always agree with him, but his essays and reviews were entertaining and insightful, explaining in detail why a movie worked or didn't.

Re: WHAT FOREIGN FILMS HAVE YOU WATCHED LATELY?

I liked it too. Carlos Enrique Taboada is my favorite director of Mexican Horror movies. I didn't look into the director's career when I posted that, and didn't realize until your comment that it was the same guy who made the excellent Even the Wind Is Afraid (1968) and The Book of Stone (1969). Do...

Re: Fav. kid cartoons...

Another favorite cartoon was The Tomfoolery Show in the early seventies. It was so absurd and nonsensical that I never missed it.

Re: Oscar Nominations

I liked The Banshees of Inisherin very much. I think director Martin McDonagh did a good job, the story is interesting, and the cast gave excellent performances. After I saw it I found up a copy of In Bruges and saw it again. I am curious but not in a hurry to see Everything Everywhere All At Once ;...

Warner Bros. Looney Toons and Merrie Melodies. I always watched them every Saturday morning. One of favorite characters was the Mynah Bird.
