Re: I Just Watched...
They've started showing Miss Marple ones before Poirot now. I've seen many of those (with McEwen and Julia MacKenzie at least), but it's been awhile so I don't remember them well). I've never seen the original (her name escapes me) which is considered the best one. So unlike Margaret Rutherford's l...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
When needing a quick dessert I sometimes mix chocolate chip morsels into my Philadelphia cream cheese and then just gobble it up on a plate. A bagel isn't even necessary! ONE TOUCH OF VENUS just concluded, and I remembered almost every line of dialogue. I've always however thought how unfortunate t...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
"Disaster to the wench who did wrong by our Johnny." (Oops, wrong movie.) In the right movie, Bart Hunter (Arthur Kennedy) says "Molly is merely a succulent little wench!" My favorite A SUMMER PLACE quote is Molly (in Sandra Dee's New Jersey accent) saying to her mother: "J...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
I saw the outro to GREY GARDENS last night while I was waiting for Noir Alley. Olivia Wilde, wearing a lovely green pantsuit, was the guest who had chosen it. She said all the things you might expect--no, it wasn't exploitative, the Maysles Brothers weren't manipulative, etc. That's not how I saw i...

Wow!!!! Tom Francis's performance of "Sunset Boulevard" from Sunset Blvd at the Olivier Awards was epic! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVKGIscnLyU And then for him to win the Best Actor in a Musical award! I am so glad I'll get to see him in New York when the show transfers to Broadway.

Re: WONKA ('23)
It's on HBO now, so I took a look over Easter weekend. ... the whole film feels like something that wondered in from the big musical era of the late 60s. That gives it enough charm, coupled with some nifty sets and camera tricks So happy you posted this. Watched it last night and found it charming....

Re: Films that made you cry
About 35 years ago, I made the "mistake" of telling a group of buddies, we were milling about after some meeting or ruther, that Dumbo made me cry. Man, did they get on my case, or what! Some razzing, but it was okay, I was a little defensive but feelings were not all that hurt. Then, som...

Re: I Just Watched...
Ah , Adrienne Barbeau! Loved her as Catwoman in BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES. She has a good part in The Fog, directed by her then-husband. It's a better than average horror film. And Janet Leigh is in it too.... I also like Adrienne Barbeau in ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, another movie directed by John Ca...

THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD (1965) I missed my favorite part where SHELLEY WINTERS pops out of the crowd, bounces off Jesus and says: "I'm cured...? I'M CURED!!! " To which I always reply: "No you're not. You're still Shelley Winters. " https://media2.giphy.com/media/bktsjcVb11...

"There's been a call. (What did I say?) They want to see me Right away!" I bought tickets today at the pre-sale for Jamie Lloyd's revival of SUNSET BLVD that's transferring from the West End to Broadway this fall. So the sweetie and I will be in New York in October! Our 10-year anniversar...

It's on HBO now, so I took a look over Easter weekend. The supporting characters have that degree of Dahl style maliciousness about them, but they aren't really given the same buildup that Dahl would have given them (although Olivia Colman is appropriately nasty as the ruthless runner of a shanty b...
