Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I saw The Letter (1929)...Yes, the Jeanne Eagels version. In case anybody is wondering, yes, it's a bootleg, but the quailty was pretty good. I have to say I enjoyed it more than the 1940 Bette Davis remake(no offense to Ms. Davis though). Jeanne Eagels perfermance was great, especially during the l...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I just watched House of Dark Shadows(1970) Three Cheers for a camptastic vampire flick based upon an awesome camptastic soap opera. And yes, I did watch the soap as a child, when the scifi channel used to run the re-runs. I never watched any of the movies before now...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I've seen following films: The Song of Songs (1933)I love a film where Marlene Dietrich starts out as a wide eye innocent, plus Lionel Atwill makes a good creep. Terror Aboard (1933)Three cheers for a film with quite a body count, and unusual deaths, plus Charlie Ruggles & Jack La Rue... Seventh...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Did anyone watch Doorway to Hell with Lew Ayres and Jimmy Cagney the other night? I enjoyed this film and thought Lew was surprisingly effective in the lead role of the juvenile college kid who organizes a crime syndicate. Cagney makes a big impression with little screen time. I missed it, but I sa...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Mick LaSalle's quote about the ending of The Flame Within in Complicated Women describes it to a T. He says that Harding plays it as if she's just had a lobotomy... one has to admit it is pretty true.

Re: Bad Movies You Love
There's too many to name off the top of my head, but I do love the classic exploitation films, you know the really badly acted ones about the danger of drugs and such.

Re: Charley Chase
Great article...I've enjoyed Charley Chase since I discovered him a few years ago, it is a shame that he isn't more well-known like Lloyd & Chaplin.

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I recently watched both Roar of the Dragon and Lawyer Man, I enjoyed both of them, but I do have one little thing that is with Lawyer Man, I thought it was quite odd that cake was used to bribe two of the DA's goons with...must of been the BEST cake ever.

I got it through Amazon, Amazon itself doesn't sell it but they have a bunch of affiliated sellers they do sell it. Also I go gaga over my avatar too, what can I say, I'm a sucker for Jack La Rue....

I saw La Strada, I've been wanting to see it for some time, I seemed to keep on missing it. It was good...Italian films are really starting to grow on me.
