Mike and Moira, I love Geraldine McEwan; she's really a brilliant actress and has been mostly on the English and American stages and on British TV. She is agood friend of Kenneth Branagh and was in his "Henry V" and played the evil nun in "The Magdalene Girls" - brilliant..... Sh...

Hi, I must say I had a good laugh at your statement about the dead and their not being sexually active. That is funny to my quirky sense of humour. Just think if we made a movie about corpses in the graveyard rising up at midnight and chasing each other around for some good lovin' and snogging. It w...

Lady Bird Johnson - 1912 - 2007

Hello Everyone, It has just been announced on the news that Lady Bird Johnson has died in Texas. She was 94. :( She was indeed a lady and an exemplary one. I met her in 1968 at the San Antonio Hemisphair. I was there as a guest of Pola Negri, who was a dear friend of Mrs. Johnson. Mrs. Johnson took ...

Dear Miss Goddess,

I hear you loud and clear when you say "I've come to the conclusion I don't like real people!"......

Some are just horror stories on foot & with mouth!

I'm sure you and I would have a much better time having tea with Frankenstein and Elsa Lanchester......

Hi Charlie, Yes, what would we do without Cinesage and his correction marker. I just ignore it or try to...... Once he wrote that I'd left out a hyphen in the names of Violet & Lillian Kemble Cooper -eg- Kemble-Cooper. I've seen it either way. I was half tempted to write back and tell him to sti...

Hi, Well, all I can say is that I'm very happy and glad that we all made it onto this site. I would hate it to have to lose such great and informed friends. We may be part of the middle aged and seniors but we are still vibrant and knowledgeable and exhibit good manners. And, that's why we're all wo...

Hi Anne, Yes, I know! I hear you!! Today's youth knows nothing, not even next-to-nothing, but absolutely nothing about classic movies and classic stars. Yesterday, in a restaurant at brunch, a teenage girl, at the next table, announced to her parents, "I want to be like an actress like Madonna!...

Dear Moira & Marco, Thank you for mentioning Regine Crespin. If you hadn't, I never would have known of her death. It was not mentioned here in Cowboyville (the Calgary Stampede just started yesterday)..... I know of her work in Europe but did not know she'd played San Francisco. Brava!! R.I.P. ...

Hi Sandy, Sts. Constantine and Helen were mother and son. And, are probably bound together because Helen went to Jerusalem and reputedly found the true cross in the 4th century. Her son, Constantine was Emperor of Rome and won a battle after seeing the cross formed in the clouds. When his mother ret...

Hi, I'm glad Miss Sills was trumpeted, so to speak, in some areas. But, the major networks just mentioned her in their news reports. I got the feeling some of those 'idiot talking heads' didn't even know who she was. They all knew and spewed volumes about ANS..... Joe - I will tune into "The Vi...

Hi, Love that Blackglama Mink. She looks a proper diva in mink, darling!!! I do have a pet peeve though and this death has brought it to the fro, so to speak: Why is there no fuss made about the passing of a great talent like Beverley Sills or Kitty Carlisle and yet the world went mad over Anna Nico...

Hi, Lex Barker was Tarzan when I first started watching movies too. But, then he stopped when he married Lana Turner (I was at their wedding in Turin, Italy)... Then, they started showing Johnny Weismuller's Tarzan on TV and he became the definitive Tarzan for me. Probably because I've never seen Jo...

Hi, Yes, that's where they met. I knew it was on a movie set but couldn't remember which one. Apparently, when Merle came onto the lot, Nina showed her around and arranged a better dressing room for her, etc. Merle never forgot the kindness and later showed Nina around Paris (took her to Dior, etc.)...
