She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dispatcher: 'They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel , the brake pedal and even the accelerator!' she cried...

Lon Chaney in The Hunchback of Notre Dame and/or The Phantom of the Opera. Most boys that age love horror and Chaney's the best.

THE SENILITY PRAYER :
Grant me the senility to forget the people
I never liked anyway,
The good fortune to run into the ones I do, and
The eyesight to tell the difference.

And that picture of Vivien Leigh is some kind of Gothic spooky. I almost expect Abbott and Costello to come running in looking for some old Universal monster.

I knew the "cabbages and kings" quote sounded familiar. I just watched Donovan's Reef Saturday before last. :D

Re: The Long Gray Line

I caught the last half hour. I first saw it when I was in junior high school as a reward for perfect attendance for the semester. Being in my early teens, I didn't expect much of a movie, but found it to be a wonderful film. I would recommend it to anyone.

I'm not familiar with Warren Stevens, but this picture of him reminds me a lot of Franchot Tone.

Far be for me to correct Mongo, but I think that that little boy was Jackie Coogan, not Jackie Cooper. But, hey, if you've seen one Jackie you've seen 'em all, right?

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare

Just caught this on another website: Al Martino (82) singer who played the Frank Sinatra-type role of Johnny Fontane in The Godfather (1972) and recorded hits including “Spanish Eyes” and the Italian ballad “Volare” in a 50-year musical career. Martino died at his childhood home in the Philadelphia ...
