Gunga Din in color?

When it comes to movies, I've never been a "coulda, woulda, shoulda" person. Whatever way a film was made, that's what we have, and I don't spend much time wondering what if it had made differently. However, I just watched TCM's "1939" special and in it there's some of George Ste...

Is that what you had in mind, Mark?
Moira, That's pretty much what I had in mind. I just thought if it had it's own section and perhaps was located near the one for TCM it would be easy to find.

new forum suggestion

We have a spot to talk about films on TCM, so how about having one for classic films on other channels. Although nobody is close to the quality or quantity of TCM, there are classics turning up on different channels if you know where to look for them. Fox Movie Channel just ran William Wellman's &qu...

They've been having so many problems with their boards, the last few weeks, you're lucky you even got on.

Re: Movie Posters??

I love decorating with movie posters. After I got married I had to convince my wife, but now she loves it too. The only qualification is that it has to be a poster that she likes ("The Sin of Nora Moran" didn't make the cut). I just hope you're talking about reprints, originals of those yo...

[quote=... a nice little suspense drama originally made for TV.

About the only made-for-tv film to be shown on TCM. Of course, it had a theatrical release in Europe and later had one here in the States so it qualifies for TCM's" theatrical film only " policy.

Re: "WE DIVE AT DAWN"

Ollie, John Mills is one of my favorite British actors ands I've been trying to see all his films. *ABOVE US THE WAVES* still escapes me so I hope it's part of TCM's British film package. I may just have to order a a region 2 DVD of it. *MORNING DEPARTURE* is another powerful film which I like a lot...

"WE DIVE AT DAWN"

Looking over TCM's Memorial Day weekend war film fest, my pick of the bunch is the rarely shown British submarine film WE DIVE AT DAWN (1943) which is on Monday at 10:30am. It stars John MIlls and Eric Portman and was directed by Anthony Asquith.

[quote="Lzcutter"] I always wonder how good this movie might have been had Selznick kept his meddling fingers to himself and left Vidor alone. I always thought the same thing about how Jennifer Jones' career would have been without Selnick's dominating control. From what've read, I think s...

Re: Jack Lemmon Collection, June 9, 2009

I last saw OPERATION MADBALL when it first came out 1957 and I seem to recall I liked it, but I dare say in 52 years my taste may have changed a little so I'd be interested in revisiting it again if for no other reason than that. So I guess that's best I'm going to give you what Leonard Maltin says ...

Re: Farewell ER

Anne, I've been an ER fan from the start and I'm sorry it's gone too, but 15 years is a very long life in the television world. It's a fact that the ratings dropped by 2/3rds since it was in its prime and as far as that goes it could have gotten the axe a couple of years ago. You're right though, it...

Re: Knight Without Armour - TCM premiere

Once again, TCM comes up with a British gem that is rarely seen over here, I recorded it and just finished watching it and it was great. It had me hooked from the start and in no way did I find it boring. Judge for yourself it's being shown again April 5 at 4am and May 2 at 8:30am.

Re: No to St. Paddy's Day

I guess Mr.Dobbs doesn't realize that St. Patrick's Day is not and has never been an offical holiday. It's just a day that those who are so inclined celebrate Irish heritage. The government doesn't shut down, people still have to work, (unless they use personal time) banks are open and life continue...
