Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???
The same thing happened with Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid - after the failed broadcast it was later posted to WatchTCM along with the introduction and wrap-up. I would imagine that TCM has to prepare the video for streaming and it may be a separate production path. It is possible that this path worked...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???
Just saw a new promo for Noir Alley (as if they didn't have enough of them) -- with Eddie Muller wearing some kind of 1940's camel hair coat, walking the streets of Frisco looking "tough". So silly and frankly tiresome already imo. Forgive my ignorance on these matters, but don't all thes...

Yes, Alma is back as a Spanish name, pronounced "Ahlma." The name from the past was "you can call me Al-ma." What movie character was named Alma? I seem to remember one. Don't forget Thelma Ritter in Pillow Talk! "You're my inspiration.... Alma!" LOL! That's right! :D

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???
I highly doubt it. 40 Guns is a Fox now Disney film. But they paid to broadcasat it and it never aired. You could be right; Here is what someone just posted at the other movie website: I just visited the TCM library. FORTY GUNS is on the library and I checked it out - it plays fine - also with Spie...

Re: OBITUARIES
Loved Dabney Coleman in everything I'd seen him in. Didn't really come into his own until his later years. I preferred him w/stache! Was Dabney his real name? Who would pick that for their stage name?

TAATPV, pretty entertaining and a cool title too. I also became confused about the plot details, though the overall idea was not too hard to follow. The guy out for revenge against the people who killed someone he was associated with, even though it was just other criminals. He was likely more in i...

Re: WHAT HAPPENED TO 40 GUNS???
As cinemainternational points out, the recent movie issues on TCM were very similar ( Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and Forty Guns ) - in both cases the correct introduction was shown, followed by a period of a dark screen, followed by a replacement movie and other shorts etc. to fill the allotted time...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
Looking forward to Robert Taylor in QUO VADIS. I like him (and his Nebraska accent) in these kinds of roles, lol. They should have had SAMSON AND DELILAH on this Mediterrean ticket. Hedy Lamarr's best (i.e. most animated) performance of her entire wooden career. Mature had a bigger bust than Hedy d...

Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES
And Paul Newman's illustrious debut follows: The Silver Chalice! (or as I dub it, The Silver Phallus!) :D Oh, yes, the one that he took a big ad out in one of the trade papers to apologize for after it aired on TV after he became a big star. It's a more interesting film than Warners big Helen of Tr...

And Paul Newman's illustrious debut follows: The Silver Chalice! (or as I dub it, The Silver Phallus!) :D Another turkey. Poor Paul. I remember sometime in the 70s (I think) Paul took out an ad in one of the trade papers or the LA Times (cant remember now) when it was going to run on local tv, apol...

Re: I Just Watched...
i swear I'll shut up about DEATH ON THE NILE but I have three final musings and an extremely esoteric observation to make, but SUE ME, I'm sharing them: 1. anyone else wonder if they threw LOUISE BORGET''S BODY to THE CROCODILES? 2. What if DR LUDWIG BESSNER was onto something and ARMADILLO URINE I...

[quote=Hibi post_id=200675 time=1716226502 user_id=849 The early 70s was not a good period for movies. As the 70s progressed it got better. [/b] See, i feel the exact opposite- as someone who has come late to viewing films of the 70s, the early 70s and especially 1971 have a lot of interesting and ...
