Re: MUSINGS, PONDERINGS, RUMINATIONS AND FANCIES

We're almost at the exact hour of TCM's first sign-on. They signed on the air at 6 p.m. EDT on 14 April 1994. My cable company didn't add the channel till a few years later so I missed all that. And three posters here (myself, LostHorizons, Bagel) weren't even born at the time the channel went live...

Re: I Just Watched...

And don't forget, appeared on an episode of MURDER, SHE WROTE! (playing another annoying character, her stock in trade!) Beth Howland, I mean. Who did BETH HOWLAND aka VERA aka DINGBAT play on MURDER SHE WROTE?!? It was a small role in a later episode where she played a housekeeper whose habit of w...

Beth Howland, the original Amy in Company ("Getting Married Today"), played Vera on Alice . Linda Lavin sang (well, sort of) the title song for the show. And don't forget, appeared on an episode of MURDER, SHE WROTE! (playing another annoying character, her stock in trade!) Beth Howland, ...

Re: April 2024 Schedule Posted, Marlon Brando is SOTM

Wow. I'm amazed they are that low. They seem to go in cycles then switch to something else to beat us over the head with. The channel itself seems to take advantage of windows of opportunities. I recall that in the early 2010s, they kept premiering all sorts of 20th Century Fox films, some only onc...

Re: Noir Alley

Thanks to James for the reference, I was not aware of The Gun Runners either. Has been on TCM a few times before, last in 2015, not on Noir Alley (yet). This week on Noir Alley is the third-time! showing of the Lawrence Tierney - Claire Trevor film Born to Kill (1947). No doubt you've seen it. Oh, ...

It is on now.
Why?
Because they can. How often is Desk Set on? Monthly it seems.

I've never heard of The Gun Runners. Did Eddie say what's on Noir Alley this week? I can't remember now.

Re: April 2024 Schedule Posted, Marlon Brando is SOTM

It's been on Sundance, AMC and BBC America lately (with ads), along with on-demand copies on MGM+ and YouTube Movies. I DVR'ed it off Showtime when they had a free week offer some time ago, and my DVR still picks up copies from various networks. The ad networks have about 45 mines of ads, based on ...
