Re: February 2023 Schedule Posted, Rita Moreno is SOTM

I wonder if the new version of One Day at a Time is produced under the same parent company that owns TCM. No, just looked, it was done by Sony/Columbia. Have a hunch that this SOTM is meant to be a tie-in to her new film, given it opens in February. Prediction, she will be joining Ben on the set. L...

Re: February 2023 Schedule Posted, Rita Moreno is SOTM

If TCM wishes to honor a Latino woman why not Katy Jurado. Jurado was in many more high qualify films than Moreno and had a lot more interesting roles; Bullfighter and the Lady, High Noon, Arrowhead, Broken Lance, The Racers, Trial, Trapeze, The Badlanders, One Eyed Jacks, Barabbas, Once Upon A Sca...

It was a really small wordless part, but she was in Singin in the Rain for a few moments. And her striptease scene in Marlowe is certainly an eye-opener.

Re: Least and Most Favorite Movie of the week

A Dandy in Aspic and That Lady in Ermine are both last movies of directors, in this case Anthony Mann and Ernst Lubitsch, who died while making the film and it had to be completed by others (respectively by Dandy star Laurence Harvey and Otto Preminger). Neither film is successful. In the first fil...

Re: The American Film Institute released their annual list of the best movies and TV shows of 2022

I thought Elvis was very good.... Everything Everywhere.... Not so Much. I thought the central performance by Butler was good in Elvis , but I wasn't crazy about the movie. I haven't really cared for any of Baz Luhrmann's films. They're just...too much. However, I will give the caveat that I liked ...

Put over by a strong cast and strong visuals. I liked it considerably more than I thought I would.

Re: Miracle on 34th Street

One of the best of all the Christmas films, with perfect work from Edward Gwenn and Natalie Wood. Nifty little film debut for Thelma Ritter as well.

Two films I associate most with vomiting: An Unmarried Woman Knives Out There is upchucking in both Postcards from the Edge and the Help, but you don't actually see it happen there. I know that you're not a horror film aficionado, CinemaInternational. So you've missed the, arguably, ne plus ultra o...

Re: TCM Remembers 2022

Thank you. So many names who passed, but although I love Sidney Poitier and Peter Bogdanovich's work, I think Angela Lansbury was the one that hit home the most for me.
