One of my new favorite songs....the heavy rock opening leads to the best part-around 1:33 mark:
I can't hear a chain saw being used in the neighborhood without breaking out in a sleazy dance.

Re: I Just Watched...
I'm very fond of Cocoon and don't share most of Tiki's opinions. To me, it moves along at a nice, comfortable pace - a feel good movie. And I thought that the pool was on a rental estate, but that could be just my imagination. Over the years, I've seen that Tiki's favorite films are ones that I usu...

Re: I Just Watched...
I recently looked for COCOON '85 and it's not streaming free, so got a copy from the library. I talked it up as "Ron Howard's best film" while cautioning I remembered it as "corny". Sometimes corn is OK, but sadly, Cocoon doesn't hold up nearly as well as my memory of it. It's th...

Fruitcakes (the literal kind). Yuck. I'm glad my grandma baked pecan pies. Don't malign the Fruitcake based on 50's-60's "quick, easy" processed candied recipes that resulted in cement bricks. REAL fruitcake is made with fruit soaked in rum. After baking, the loaf is spritzed regularly wi...

my introduction to TRUMAN CAPOTE was in elementary school when my 4rth grade teacher read A CHRISTMAS MEMORY aloud to us and I think I CRIED IN CLASS- to the surprise of NONE of you, I was a very sensitive child- and there was something in me that day that UNDERSTOOD THAT LITTLE BOY and HIS RELATIO...

Sorry I missed it. I have been working Sat/Sun until 9-10P and no longer able to watch Svengoolie's show.
13 Ghosts & Gargoyles are two of my childhood favorites, so have them on disk anyway. All I miss is hearing comments on the cast & production, although rarely revelatory.

Thanks to all of you for that backstory on Depardieu- I am not one to follow any media and never heard anything about him. It's shocking to hear and I'm glad his career suffered for it. So often predatory behaviour is excused as a "typical male" mind....just look at how many accept the for...

Yes, the audience was in hysterics and most screamed on cue! The historic Capitol Theater in Rome, NY showed House On Haunted Hill and had an adult size "Emergo Skeleton" on a wire slide down into the audience like that- https://i.pinimg.com/originals/33/f4/43/33f443c83c4c506bbc14e65d199d...

Like Smell O Vision and later Odorama, gimmicks just don't work. Maybe filmmakers should just stick with better stories and GOOD WRITING to capture audiences?

I contacted Lomm yesterday about this. Is he around? Yes, LZ saw the thread & contacted Lomm to look into it. No one knows how/why it happened. but LZ did mention a poster by name, which is always helpful to Admins/Mods. I'm glad I know many of you in real life and glad to have personal contact...

FYI Lomm is the only one who knows how this website/forum works. He set it up & is the only one who can correct it. My job is to keep members civil to each other when discussions get heated. A Moderator is like the teacher holding a ruler, Lomm controls who comes in & out of the building. I ...

Re: A Shriek in the Night (1933)
We are less than a generation away from movies being homogenized to the point that they are picture-perfect in all ways and as appetizing as institutional pap. I will embrace the snow, scratches and clicks in an old movie as being proof that it is real. Has anyone seen artificially aged videos (oft...
