Re: CANDIDS II
My father managed the polo at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades California. The stable area was very impressive with early California style buildings with red tile roofs and olive tree planters well centered. For quite sometime, every day, Robert and Jennifer would walk through the area ...

Re: Scott O'Brien to Visit on 10/25 & 10/26
Thanks so Scott. Sounds exactly right. That ranch had a Camarillo 'mailing' address. I was never sure just where Hidden Valley and 1000 Oaks became separate. Fun to remember. I can still see that stable clear as I did then. Hoo-ray!

Re: Scott O'Brien to Visit on 10/25 & 10/26
P.S. I see it is not listed in the 1960 Racing Manual but is in the 1958. Could be that the ranch I am remembering was: " you know, George Brent's place !" It was called Royal Oaks and I do remember that for sure and Camarillo may have been the mailing address. I am sure it was 1000 Oaks. ...

Re: Scott O'Brien to Visit on 10/25 & 10/26
The thoroughbred ranch I went to was called Royal Oaks Farm. The address was technically Camarillo but if memory serves me it was 1000 Oaks. Unless there was another. I think that, however, there is a fine line between 1000 Oaks and Camarillo. It was a long time ago. This was in the mid or early 70's.

Re: Scott O'Brien to Visit on 10/25 & 10/26
I always thought of him as pure class in films. I visited his thoroughbred ranch many times and it too was not ostentatious . . . highly functional but very elegant.

Re: Rod Taylor
I LOVE Rod Taylor. I too watched him in Hotel today. A double whammie for me. That hotel lobby was almost an exact copy of the long ago St. Francis in San Francisco. (not anymore though) I really liked him in Fate Is the Hunter. Of course I thoroughly enjoy Ernest Gann's stories. He was a real air l...
