Gene Tierney was the hottest, no contest really. However, what I noticed about all these classic beauties is that the majority of them had personal problems and/or tragedies. Gene Tierney : Battled with mental issues and depression Natalie Wood : The controversy regarding Kirk Douglas + her unfortun...

Re: *CANDIDS*
Good analysis, Fossy. Thanks for the info regarding Barbara Lawrence, Nick. I don't know where to go with this since her cousin confirmed that she was born in 1928? What to do? Well, you could ask her if this is the correct 1940 census document: Original document: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9....

Re: *CANDIDS*
Thank you, ladies. I only found out today that she died last November. Thanks for the clarification Marge. Also her date of birth is listed as 1928 on IMDb while other sources state it is 1930? Perhaps you can clear that up, Marge. I enjoyed Ms. Lawrence as Linda Darnell's sister in "A Letter ...

Re: A Letter to Three Wives
I saw this film yesterday. I dunno...I sorta got the impression that besides Jeanne Crain, none of the girls seemed devastated by the news that Addie had run away with one of their husbands. Since they didn't seem to care that much, neither did I. Maybe it's because there were too many flashbacks?

Classic stars with their own websites
Some of our old stars are surprisingly active on Internet, directly or indirectly! Remember Kirk Douglas' Myspace blog? He's stopped that for some time, but there are others around. Compiling a list here could facilitate any attempt of trying to write to them. First off is Marilyn Knowlden . It's a ...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Just saw The Secret Garden (1949) for the first time. *The scene where both Mary and Colin have a tantrum seriously made me deaf. *There were too few scenes inside the secret garden. Did the budget not allow longer technicolor shots? Lol *I wonder how a 12-year old Margaret O'Brien must've fe...

Re: Gone With or Without fanfare
It's been a bad year for classic opera singers this year. First, it was Rise Stevens, then it was Deanna Durbin. And now, Hungarian Martha Eggerth has died too at the age of 101 (1912-2013). Some of you might recognize her in Gene Kelly & Judy Garland's 1942 movie For Me and My Gal . Others migh...
