Bad Film Descriptions Game
I saw a thread like this on another forum and thought it would be a fun game for a film-centric forum! Rules: Post the worst possible description of a movie, and everyone else has to try and guess what the movie is. Anyone can post a movie description, and anyone can try to guess. Here is an example...

Re: interacting with child stars
From what I have seen, I think Robert Young does an excellent job playing alongside child actors. For example, I really enjoyed his effervescent, yet fatherly character of Cuffy in The Canterville Ghost.
I am very excited to see Stowaway next month to see his interactions with Shirley Temple!

Re: The January 2014 Schedule for TCM
Wow, Jack! It is amazing how many favorite actors and movies we have in common! Thank you so much for the recommendations your summaries! I actually haven't seen The Mortal Storm nor Three Comrades , but those did look intriguing to me. Unfortunately, I am in grad school, so I don't have a lot of ti...

Re: The January 2014 Schedule for TCM
The other day I was able to catch most of The Canterville Ghost , which I had not had the pleasure of seeing before. I was especially pleased with the performance of Robert Young, whom I never really paid much attention to previous to this film, aside from his role in The Enchanted Cottage (one of m...

Re: WHAT IF - Certain Stars Aligned
I would really have liked to have seen a gangster film with all 4 of the gangster greats: Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, and George Raft. All of these actors have done at least one film with one another, but it would have been amazing to see them all in one picture. What a powerh...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Has anyone thought of re-making this movie with WOMEN? TWELVE ANGRY WOMEN? That would be a horror film! That is a fascinating thought. Indeed, most people would take it to just be a display of cattiness. It is interesting how, in 12 Angry Men, it is very much a power struggle for many of the charac...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Despite having this avatar from the film for a long time, I only just yesterday was able to watch Condemned! (1929). I was initially thrilled to see a prison film with Ronald Colman, as I am quite interested in prison films and their role as propaganda and social commentary. I knew that the main plo...

norfious, I'm glad to see you back. Ethel Merman did only a few movies in the thirties, I'm thinking maybe 6 at the most. I know she was in Kid Millions too, with Eddie, and then also Anything Goes later on... plus she had a nice part in Alexander's Ragtime Band as Alice Faye's rival or replacement...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I got The Falcon Mystery Movie Collection for Christmas this year, so I have been watching those quite a bit. The first few with George Sanders are by far my favorite. He pulls of the character so well. However, I was surprised how unceremoniously they switched to Tom Conway in the role. I know they...

Re: The January 2014 Schedule for TCM
(I know I keep disappearing from these forums, then coming back. I apologize for my flakiness!) Aww, I am bummed that I missed all the Kay Francis movies on Monday. I have only seen a few of her films, but I would like to know more about the glamor queen of the pre-codes! I am even more upset that ...

Re: Your favorite character actors
His voice is the most distinctive part of him. Once you hear it, you'll find him turning up in one out of five movies on TCM usually as a flatfoot or an underworld lug. He was a star football player, then got bit by the acting bug. His best roles are in My Man Godfrey (he has the first line, and is...

I even have a few bit actors that I love, most notably Pat Flaherty who I'm sure you would recognize, especially if you hoid him speak: http://i312.photob...

Re: Your favorite character actors
Melville Cooper Ah, yes! Watching The Lady Eve again the other night reminded me how much I like this actor. I enjoy the cool, superior air he brings to a lot of his characters, even if some of them are con-men and thieves. :) In general, find I enjoy character actors a great deal--often more so th...

I just remembered another one today after watching "The Lady Eve." I'd be really interested to learn more about Eric Blore; I always love his characters.
