Re: Favorite Laurel & Hardy Films

Besides the ones you mentioned, I also like the silent ones quite a bit. Habeas corpus where they are trying to find a dead body in the cemetery for a Frankenstein-esque doctor is pretty funny. Also the one where Stan is a Scottish immigrant who doesn’t want to wear pants even after everyone cajoles...

Re: Bad Movies You Love

Does the Hunger count as a bad movie? I certainly don’t love it but it was a time killer.

Re: Which Comedian is like Fingers on a Chalkboard for you?

I showed my dad Beer and Pretzels (1933) and he said he didn’t like Ted Healy because he was too pompous and he didn’t take slaps from the stooges like Moe did when he was their leader. He said the Stooges’ leader should be willing to take slaps too and Healy was like “he was above them.”

Was the entire channel down last night?

None of my recordings recorded the actual show. Shozo, a cat and two women just recorded the intro to Downhill which wasn’t even supposed to be in the same time slot. Was this only my tv or did someone at the channel screw up?

Re: Theater

For On the Town, my classical music book recommends Michael Tilson Thomas’ performance from 1991 iirc. The entire thing was up on YouTube. It’s very good.

You're a very nice person but I find you to be very naive: He didn't leave the internet forever: He is posting right now at the Classic Film forum. Anyhow, at least at this forum, the focus can be on movie talk. As for BCTA: I have never liked this film. The only reason I even watched it was becaus...

Yes, he did. What immediately came to mind for me was Valentino in Son of the Sheik and Clark Gable in Red Dust and It Happened One Night.

Re: Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969)

I'm not going to clean this thread up because it's too many pages. Intrepid has left the internet forever due to excessive complaints and endless bickering (this is becoming my least favorite word). Let's please get back to movie talk. You're a very nice person but I find you to be very naive: He d...

Re: What Movie Related Book Have You Read Lately?

Bewitched was inspired by I Married A Witch and Bell, Book and, Candle . In Bewitched though neither the man or the woman falls in love as the result of magic --- which was the case i n I Married A Witch and (I think) Bell, Book and Candle . In I Married A Witch ,Veronica Lake's character was tryin...

Advance to the Rear (which was on this morning)

Next: a movie where the lead where’s a Cartier Tank watch.

*for those who don’t particularly care about watches there are actually a few A list studio films I can think of which feature this watch.

Re: What Movie Related Book Have You Read Lately?

I finished Veronica Lake's book a while ago. I liked reading about her feud with Fredric March. I could see the two of them not getting along. Lol. I recently watched I Married A Witch . I enjoy the movie a lot, but I can't help but think about how Veronica Lake and Fredric March couldn't stand eac...
