Re: 2011 TCM Festival

It'd be great if they showed the rarely-screened Three Secrets as well - for some reason, that film NEVER shows up on TCM.

Re: 2011 TCM Festival

It would be nice to get Eleanor Parker for something, though I hear she's never really been very open to interviews or anything like that.

Re: Cinesation 2010

This sounds wonderful, and I'm sorry I was unable to go. If they have another one next year, I'll definitely try to be there, school permitting.

Re: Holy Mackerel! What Have They Done to IMDb?

Actually, the whole time I've been using it, it's been a hodgepodge between the old and "new" formats. So I don't know what the bejeebus is doing over there. I know that I agree that the new interface does indeed stink.

Re: 100 Films Closer to Death

I absolutely love the photography and editing, but I'm not sure yet what to make of Dieudonne's performance as Napoleon. So far about all he's done has been to look surly, sort of like Sam the Eagle. I still have quite a way to go, however.

Re: 100 Films Closer to Death

Am now slowly - VERY slowly, considering all I've had to do - working my way through a copy of one of Brownlow's restorations of Napoleon (1922), which has been fun thus far. If this one plays at any of the TCM festivals, I've come to the point where I will literally sell my lungs to get there. I mu...

Re: Film Festivals

Film festivals don't exist anywhere near WV, either. I think there are a few theaters in Columbus that show classics now and then (so I've heard), but that's probably the closest venue to my current locale. My hometown does boast a restored old movie house where concerts and stage shows are held eve...

This has caused something of a mini-sensation amongst a few friends of mine on Facebook, so why should I deny those here the pleasure:

Re: Secret Beyond the Door - Fritz Lang

I own a very old VHS, but I will probably record it just to see what the print quality is like.

Those who enjoyed Hitchcock's Rebecca should also check out this film - the plot's very similar in certain ways.

Re: Welcome to the Q & A with Casey LaLonde

Hi Casey! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions. I was hoping I'd have a chance to participate in the forum before I leave for job training this week. Just wanted to say beforehand that Joan Crawford is one of my favorite classic stars as well. Whatever type of movie she made, i...

Re: December TCM Schedule Up!

Having now seen three of his films, I feel pretty safe passing up Will Rogers. Stix humor just ain't my bag, dad. (Unless we're talking about the Paul Henning sitcoms.) Now, I will tune in for Solaris. I've been wanting to see the 1972 version for awhile now. And I do recommend both Zoo in Budapest ...

Re: A light bulb moment

I recently saw an article indicating that Hollywood is making/releasing more films featuring older stars - the film at the center of the article was this new one with Bruce Willis and Helen Mirren (can't remember the name of it, but I do want to see it - I should be working by then). This could poss...

Re: 100 Films Closer to Death

Thanks, Moira. Yes, it's been fun. If anyone might be interested, I was going to post my own checklist on my Facebook page on or around my 35th birthday (which will be in October). I'm hoping to make it to 600 by then, but with work and school and all, I'm not holding my breath. I don't mean to give...

Snoop Sisters on DVD soon

Helen Hayes and Mildred Natwick starred as The Snoop Sisters, the 1973 program which was part of the rotating NBC Mystery Movie series. Now Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI) of Canada has announced plans to bring The Complete Series to DVD as part of a 3-disc set. That will be the original TV movie p...

Re: Josef von Sternberg's Silent Trilogy on DVD

So many great DVDs have been either released or announced in the last few months that, once I am finally receiving paychecks, I'll still have no money because I'll be compulsively buying. Criterion's been especially on the ball this past year: this set, the (Eclipse) Guitry set, Modern Times, severa...
