Re: Best War Pictures

Having lived through the 2nd World War, Korean War, Vietnam War, and all the desert Wars I have been swayed by media and marketing to accept and believe or not believe what I see. The 2nd World War was folly to us young kids. "Let's go see John Wayne or Walter Pigeon command the troops and kill...

It now looks like the TCM remastered collection will not be out until July 9, 2010. This has been delayed multiple times so we do not know what is going on.

Re: Cary Grant

Cary Grant was the lead with Grace Moore in "When Your In Love" from 1937. In that movie he looked and sounded almost the same as "to Catch A thief" - 1955. He seems to be a visual legend.

Re: My Passion Is The Great Movie Opera Singers of 1930-1940

Great job Fossy. I listened to all the clips and now I know more than I knew before. I never heard of Miltza Kouras but she only made one movie. I knew of Rise Stevens but never saw any of her movies. All the others I am familiar with and either have some movies or have seen them. Exceptions are Sam...

Re: San Francisco

I too loved this movie and was totally impressed with the special effects photography used in 1936. It is hard to imagine all the breakthrough techniques and machine development that helped create all the illusions. I know something of projection technology and little things like wide screen was con...

Re: A Star is Born

I agree with most of your assessment but I conclude, as with most films, "That's Hollywood for ya". Still, one of my most favorite selections from any musical from LA Land is the "Born In A Trunk" piece. I think the trunk was one of the most impressive thing Judy had done in film...

Re: Movie Palaces, Cinemas and Theaters of Yesterday and Today

I, like many of you, have expeienced a great many of local movie theaters over the years. I grew up in a small town of 55,000 people in New Jersey, but we had 6 movie theaters and two towns away were 8 movie theaters and in another direction there were 10 movie theaters. So we had our choice of movi...

Re: Four Daughters or Young at Heart

Because of your review I just purchased both movies from "myoldmanmovies.com for $4.99 each and applied a 10% discount available for all. Then I discovered the series and bought more. My total cost for all five movies was $18.00. I will receive these DVDs in less than 5 days. Are you aware this...

Re: Donna Reed: Wednesdays in May

I loved Donna Reed and thought she brought a bit of real life to the silver screen. One of my favorite movies with Donna Reed was a real grade "B" called The Benny Goodman Story. Story line was poor, dialogue was poor, acting was terrible, and even the cinematography was poor. But Donna Re...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?

Hi everyone, This is my first posting on this thread and after you get past the very small problem you will realize my posting of some great movies. I, unfortunately, must be in a Hyperbaric Chamber for 108 minutes five days per week. The chamber introduces pure oxygen into your body at increased pr...

Re: THREE new forums

I am sorry to be so contrary here but I now see why I could not find this thread. "Dark House Of Light" is not exactly a descriptive title for Old Movie Theaters. There was an obvious reason why no one has responded to it since 2007. Don't you think it is time to revitalize the subject and...

Re: Great Bargains (I think)

This was also posted in another thread. My purchase from myoldmanmovies.com was perfect. I paid $60.00 for 16 movies and free delivery. Every DVD came in clean with black professional printing on a silver surface. Printed was the title, stars of the movie and then the main cast. All 16 movies played...
