Thanks for the kind words.
Now that I've reached Jack's age of 39, my only regret is that I don't have his blue eyes.

Re: *CANDIDS*
Just love the Brown/Lemmon photo. It was great actors, including these two, as much as great writing and directing that made Some Like It Hot the all-time classic comedy it is.
And they look like they're having so much fun, too!

Re: Historic Hollywood Sites
LA has always fascinated people the world over. If NY's streets are paved with gold, LA's are paved with stars! If there isn't already a blog "reella" along the lines of reelsf.com, someone should certainly start one. Even more than San Francisco, Los Angeles must be filled with THEN and N...

Re: I need suggestions for non-movie-related action.
Sorry to have confused you. Like the imdb symopsis, I avoided reference to the surprise climax. Let's just say: Set him up for a big fall. For another, even more obscure example, I offer the not-so-great Jeff East thriller variously known as The Hazing and/or Campus Corpse . And just to clear it up ...

Re: Favorite Quotes
I think at least most of these quotes are almost universally known, but just for the record, here’s the list: I am big. It’s the pictures that got small. (Gloria Swanson, “Sunset Boulevard”) I coulda been a contender! I coulda been somebody! (Marlon Brando, “On the Waterfront”) Hello, everybody. Thi...

Re: LISTS
Sorry to see this wonderful listing of the great films come to an end, but I can certainly see why. At least it all now exists in this thread, and we can go back to explore some of the ones we might have missed. Thank you, most sincerely for making this possible. Agree that "Woolf" was the...

Re: Favorite Quotes
Have been thinking a lot about favorite quotes. I find that the best seem to be those where you can actually hear the actor speaking the lines in your head as you read them. I believe that is true of the quotes above. Here are some more. See if you, too, don’t “hear” them. I am big. It’s the picture...

Re: Things I Learned about Traveling from Classic Movies
Great fun, Moira. Loved putting the situations with the movies. Afraid my contribution isn't at all difficult:
If three of your fellow travelers are named
Sugar
Josephine
and
Daphne
it’s going to be a bumpy night.
But, that’s okay, because,
“Nobody’s perfect.”

Re: Favorite Quotes
What a great idea! And the perfect film to start us off. A few of my favorites: "Mr. Babcock, knowledge is power!" "Oh, she’s not English darling. She’s from Pittsburg." "She sounded English." "Well, when you’re from Pittsburg, you have to do something." "...

I agree wholeheartedly with the compliments heaped upon you by the others. It is a magnificent idea, magnificently presented. I do hope that others will be inspired to present their opinions on the cinematic records we are leaving behind for future generations. Come to think of it, that's exactly wh...

I also find I agree with this list. Thanks, too, for the way you've presented it with trailers and a brief comment. Particularly struck by your spot-on comments regarding the relevance in today's world of The Manchurian Candidate" and the power of Angela Landsbury's performance. It got to me so...

Re: Colonial Period Films?
Some stage musicals have translated well to the screen; some have not. Here are some good transfers, in my opinion: Fiddler on the Roof The King and I 1776 Kiss Me Kate Godspell Show Boat South Pacific And some not-so-good transfer, IMO: Man of La Mancha Sweeney Todd Camelot Annie Totally agree wit...
