Re: *CANDIDS*
I just read a biography of Vivian Vance, she certainly lived an interesting life. She was/is the greatest 'sidekick' ever!

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
Aww, you're sweet but I'll live. I'd rather be hot than cold! If we can avoid that breathtaking humidity, I can take the heat!

Re: Joan Blondell faves - tape wore out!
Does anyone out there have Miss Pacific Fleet? I'm on a search for that one since it's not being shown Aug. 24th.
Thanks, B

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
Knitty, I hear ya...you can shuck an ear of corn in the field and butter it up and it's ready to go... I feel so bad for everyone suffering. My central ac is out, has to be replaced and I can't do it. Luckily I have 1 room ac so am surviving best I can. If the night temps drop down, we are fine. Las...

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
Anne, I understand a few miles to the south here. Hot, hot, hot. I would say 'hot as hell', but that implies a lack of moisture, which we do not have. When it is this humid, you can't keep it out. For people with no AC, it is the same temperature and air quality inside as out. Temps around 90 are ea...

Re: Joan Blondell faves - tape wore out!
I see there are a couple of other 30s comedies on that day that I don't even have so... hint, hint. I may have to bribe you with an all-day sucker!

Re: Joan Blondell faves - tape wore out!
Awesome! But how dare they leave out Miss Pacific Fleet? All 3 came in in '35, actors sure worked hard in those days, didn't they? I will send you a reminder close to the date and will hope I can live till them.

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Tonight or Never, 1931, with Gloria Swanson and Melvyn Douglas. It's kind of a sizzler, and you've got to love that 1931 style! Of course, Gloria acts like she's still in silents, which we can't help but love about her. Melvyn was very elegant and handsome, a quality I thought he lost somewhat in th...

Joan Blondell faves - tape wore out!
I have 3 Joan Blondells that I've had on VHS forever and last night the tape finally wore out. I had never gotten these onto DVD. Might anyone be able to help me out with these DVDs? (All with Glenda Farrell, lest I forget!) I'm ashamed to admit that I watch these almost once a month! Miss Pacific F...

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
klondike, I can feel it now! We had a ridiculous 97 degrees for days in a row...now back to a more seasonable 75 or 80. I love summer but don't like June to be unbearably hot. It is my favorite month because I can hear the birds over the stupid cicadas. eeeeeeeeea.....eeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEa...........

Hi, friends, just thought I'd pop in to say hi and catch up on what you are all doing lately. I have been missing you all but too busy to sit and chat...how sad. Also thought I'd throw a quick whine out into cyber-space....my mother-in-law is back. (see the whiny thread, page 1) And I quote, "T...

Re: WHAT SILENTS & PRE-CODES HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
I just saw Three Cornered Moon, 1933 with Claudette Colbert, Richard Arlen, Mary Boland (who is delightfully flaky), Tom Brown and Joan Marsh and Wallace Ford. This was a great society-family in the depression story with plenty of laughs. Three Cornered Moon is the name of the stock that takes them ...

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
Knitty, Glad to hear you are ok. My heart goes out to those poor people in MO. We have had spotty storms here and some straight line winds. A stom that seemed small at my house today dropped some trees in a town east of here. A couple of weeks ago, my mom and dad were in a parking lot and hail broke...
