Red Skelton
I've seen Red Skelton films with Eleanor Powell. His comedy is so original and you really can relate to some of the things he says.

My Top Five Musicals
1. Broadway Melody of 1936 - Even though it isn't a true theatrical musicals it's a more escapism musical with a good storyline and wonderful dance routines. 2. Ziegfeld Follies - What a great film with all the stars coming onto the big screen!!! My favourite from the film is Lucille Ball and Judy G...

Western Musicals
I'd have to say that in the 50's musicals became more theatrical they real broadway musicals style which is what many western musicals were like. I personall prefer musicals from the 30's and 40's.

The Wizard of Oz
I think I've seen this film almost a thousand times which I guess is why I haven't seen it for many years. Though when I was little it was something that I religiously watched aswell as the Sound of Music.

Alice Faye
I have a fairly large book about The Movie Stars of the Golden Years and in it is a nice little description of Alice. "Alice Faye absolutely belongs to the 1930's. If the quintessential star of that period was one of those up-and-at-'em dames, Faye, better than anyone represents the other heroi...

Gene Kelly
Powell's continued recognition and appreciation suffers, not from her abilities as a dancer, compared to Kelly and Astaire, but to her output of films. She has nothing quite like some of the classics of Kelly and Astaire. She's superb. As is my favorite screen dancer, Vera-Ellen. Well Eleanor Powel...

Gene Kelly
I have to agree with a few people here that Gene Kelly is as egotistical as ever, he really lacks, warmth and just basic etiquette while dancing with a partner which shows what he thinks of himself and other people.

That's Dancing
I just love this film, it is such a good outline of the dance throughout history. Though I think they should have put at least more Eleanor Powell and Ann Miller in there.

Broadway Melody of 1940
BM of 1940 is just another classic film with a bad taste to it. When you look at it there are many dissapointments when it comes to musicals and classic films but it is something you just have to tolerate. The reason why I like this film is'nt just because of the dance numbers but because it's just ...

Eleanor Powell
Yes in Broadway Melody of 1940 she certainly does sing in her own voice. As for Rosalie (1937) she only sings one number in her own voice and that's 'I've a Strange New Rhythm in my Heart'. Her accent and voice is all there. What can I say I love Eleanor Powell so much I honestly think that she was ...
