Everybody have fun these next few days. I'm going to be away from a computer until next Tuesday. I'm taking Jeremy and heading to the San Juans in a boat with my dad, uncle, brother and his son. If I don't fall overboard I'll be back with the next batch of reviews.

I do love summer!

The Master Key #545

We now turn our attention back to the Saturday afternoon matinees of the past where every young buckaroo anxiously waited to catch the latest chapter of the current cliff hanger playing before the feature. This time we turn to Universal Studios and their 13 chapter version of The Master Key , filled...

You all make excellent points about the large number of parents that don't prioritize their kids. The stories are many and usually depressing. I would just like to add a little weight to the other side, and stand up for some of the strong parents out there. I coach kids sports year-round. I have coa...

A nice collection of thought-provoking films. Since Anne tossed in a TV entry in Stargate (which of course was first a movie), I'll add Star Trek to the mix (also a series of movies, obviously). As a child watching Trek on the tube it, certainly raised many questions in my young and impressionable m...

Bryce, One of the problems of falling in love with Jackie Chan's work is having to acknowledge that he has never been able to make the "perfect" Jackie Chan film. There are parts of each of his movies (especially the work from the middle of his career) that are mind-bogglingly spectacular,...

Bryce, I've been a Jackie fan for almost 30 years. It started when I would go to great lengths to obtain crappy looking bootleg tapes from dubious sources just to get a glimpse of Jackie Chan, whom I had heard so much about from my Asian friends. His work was almost impossible to find in this countr...

Sci-Fi That Makes You Think

A lot of films classified as Sci-Fi are little more than cop thrillers set in space. Then there is an entire sub-genre that is a cross breed between science fiction and horror. What I'd like to know is what science fiction films have really made you think over the years? Ones that had real thought p...

Did anyone else watch this (A Stranger in Town) when it was on TCM a couple of weeks ago? If so, did you also stick around for the sequel, The Stranger Returns? Which did you prefer?

There is a very different feel to the two films even though they were filmed within months of each other.
