Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
After a late start, winter, my favourite time of year is here. June was the wettest for 15 years, but now we have our typical winter. It was 11 Degrees (51.8) last night, a bit cooler than usual and today a maximum of 25 degrees ( 77) and a fine sunny day is expected. I can now look forward to a few...

TCM Cruise 2014
I recently received an email from TCM about their cruise. The special guests were named, and on seeing that Ann Blyth is included I wondered if I would be able to meet her. I have all but one of her feature movies, and she is one of only three movie stars to respond to me. (Three times). I will neve...

Doris Day
Doris Day I was quite content to have all of Doris Day`s Movies, and then I found the western movie Saga Of Death Valley (1941) with Doris Day in it, so I bought it. It is just an ordinary western with our hero (Roy Rogers) well dressed, with a pretty horse, and of course the mandatory white hat. H...

Re: 1930s most under-rated westerns
I find this an interesting section. Although I am not a fan of western movies I never the less have some in my collection. Some 95% of my movie collection is indexed under female names. Let`s face it, I would rather look at a beautiful woman than watch arrogant dusty men wearing white hats who go ar...

Re: WHAT FILMS HAVE YOU SEEN LATELY?
Doris Day is a big favourite of mine. I have her 39 movies. My favourites would be the suspense movie Midnight lace (1960) and the comedy The Glass Bottom Boat (1966).

I always thought of Tony Curtis as being pretty, but he does not look very pretty in that picture.

Aline MacMahon was a very good actress, and that is a lovely photo of her. She appears in nine of the movies in my collection. Although she is probably mainly remembered as a support actress, she struck a “purple patch” during 1934 and 1935 when she starred in nine consecutive movies.

Re: Sailor walks into a bar . . .
I was in the lift, and when a lady with an ample bosom walked in, I could not help staring.
She said please press 1.
So I did.
When I came to she was gone.

Re: Showboat 1936-1951, which is best.
Show Boat (1929) This film was originally part silent, part talkie and part singing. It begins with an overture of a couple of songs by stars from the Ziegfeld stage show, including Hey Fella by Aunt Jemima and her Jubilee Orchestra, Bill, sung by Helen Morgan. Old Man River sung by Jules Bledisloe...

Re: Showboat 1936-1951, which is best.
I have three versions of Showboat in my collection. To decide which is the best version between the 1936 and 1951 versions is difficult. Kathryn Grayson and Howard Keel`s “Only Make Believe” is just great. Ava Gardner`s “Bill” and “Can`t Help Lovin` Dat Man” were just great. In the movie her voice w...

Re: 'Round the World Weather Report
All is well, the storm has passed with no problems for me. As expected Cooktown copped the most damage. The highway into Cairns is cut by floodwater to the north and south, but that should clear by tonight. The storm passed in the night, I was asleep and did not even notice it.
