No problem Jezebel38. After my initial posting on TCM FredCDobbs posted the link that I have added to my post. In my post I removed the sentence about running a portion of the clip backward because that portion was actually reproduced by inverting the picture so that "TCM" might be read fr...

The 2007 "TCM Happy Holidays" promo is taken from Gold Diggers of 1933 in a sequence beginning about 39 minutes into the film. The sequence is part of one version of "Pettin' in the Park." The TCM letters and logos were added by TCM. The "baby" is Billy Barty. View it h...

The Spanish language version of Chickens Come Home (Politiqueras) is much longer than the English language version. Babe delivers his lines smoothly but Stan has a tough time of it. Both versions are quite a hoot!

In the Very Little TCM thread I posted some background concerning Our Man in Havana excerpted from Kovacsland: A Biography of Ernie Kovacs , by Diana Rico. The movie was filmed just after the Castro takeover in Cuba. Some of the political tensions/situations are part of this interesting narrative. O...

I used to watch Sinister Cinema on KATU in Portland Oregon. This was in the 1970s. Jimmy Hollister was "Ravenscroft," sort of an Igor, with Victor Ives as a comical caped Dracula, the main host. The series had been off the air for a number of years when there was a "reunion" show...

Today, and over the next several days, there are a number of deviations from the published Now Playing schedules. This, and the omission of interstitial shorts from the online schedule, has prompted me to program my time-shifting devices to record all 1930s and 1940s movies, including those I have r...

While some manufacturers of combo recorders and DVRs no longer equip some of their products with built-in tuners some manufacturers are offering products that have built-in analog and digital tuners. I have one of the new analog/digital tuning Panasonics, a DMR-EZ17, an entry level DVD recorder. Thi...

Birdy,

It's good to hear from you again.

I'm glad you're pleased with your Panasonic. Mine have held up well, even with heavy use.

I read more than I post here or on TCM. I'm more like Mr. Ed, I don't speak unless I have something to say.

Take care.

Hollis, VCR and DVD recorders with built-in tuners receive TV stations, cable and satellite channels and allow recording from those services. (A VHS or DVD "player" is just that, limited to playing those media formats, not recording.) Until just recently VCRs and DVD recorders had built-in...

Hollis, The SV2000 VHS/DVD at the $40 price probably doesn't have a tuner, only Line In RCA jacks for connecting to a cable converter or satellite receiver that has RCA outputs. (Lower priced machines manufactured since March 2007 no longer have tuners.) There is one very negative review on the Wal-...

Is there a new Panasonic hard drive DVR coming? I recently inquired.

Here is their response:

"Thank you for your inquiry. As of 2007, we are no longer designing our
DVD Recorders with a hard drive.

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Thank You,
Panasonic Consumer Support"

Remember Wenn, set in a Pittsburgh radio station in the 1939-41 period, premiered on American Movie Classics on 1/13/96. After a run of fifty-six episodes the final original episode aired on 9/11/98. I watched and recorded all but six of those episodes. During that period AMC was still committed to ...
