...yet I'm quite sure that his biggest fans don't even know what his name is. Ain't it the truth! Every time I see Murray Alper, it's "Oh there's the cab driver from 'Hands Across the Table' !" Now maybe your post will make the name stick. A terrific post! And pictures... Look at that gri...

You said it, Chris. Victor Jory! For my money, you could cross out the "might."

Isn't it wonderful that it's finally out on DVD!

By the way, Erik: I love that avatar of Rita and Gene. What a pleasing sight!

I'm very fond of "The Great Dan Patch" (1949), with Dennis O'Keefe and Gail Russell and John Hoyt.

Re: The May 2013 TCM Schedule

Seeing your comment, Moira, about the importation of Ida, I remembered my well-worn copy of John Springer's They Had Faces Then . Here's his take on the casting, from page 133: "Let's all say a word of gratitude to Charlotte Henry. If Charlotte hadn't won out, Ida Lupino would have played Alice...

Re: The May 2013 TCM Schedule

The trailer for "Alice in Wonderland" caught my attention, too. I snipped it from the day's recordings and played it over a few times just to hear the song. The voice couldn't belong to Chester Morris, could it? Naw. But... Could it?

Bronxgirl: On the April '13 thread , you mentioned: I feel he's terribly miscast in KITTY FOYLE. There's nothing Main Line about Dennis, which I think is part of his great appeal. Would you go a little further with this for me? I don't think I've ever met real 'Main Line' so, meeting the reel counte...
