Judith, as I mentioned above we did go to hair and make-up where I ended up with my hair pasted to my head. They did suggest certain attire for at least two occasions.
At the studio we had hardly any prep time although Robert put us at ease. The intros and outros took about 10 to 15 minutes of which they will edit from.
Although Robert is made up for the interviews he wore no make-up during the initial cocktail party and dinners. He made sure to meet and greet each and everyone of us in style (chatting and taking pictures).
And yes, he is as handsome as he appears on TV.

As the others have noted, they left the wardrobe choices up to us. They did ask us to stay away from reds and stripes both which can play havoc with the cameras.
We did have a stylist for make-up. I am hair-impaired in a major way. I just did not get that gene and have never been able to really master the skill. I told my producer at TCM that I was hair-impaired and luckily, Robert O's stylist was standing right there and heard me. She took pity on me and whisked me off to the dressing rooms where she touched up my make-up and put my hair up in french braid. It was actually quite fitting because it looks a bit like Joanna Dru's hair style in Yellow Ribbon only without the yellow ribbon.
They had us at 30 minute intervals. I think the whole on-camera thing was probably about 15 minutes but they needed the extra time for lights, checking of facts and making sure everything was just right for when they said "action".
They pretty much kept to the schedule mainly because they had eight people to interview on Monday and seven on Tuesday. Monday we had to be done by a certain time because there was a big dinner to go to that evening.
And yes, Robert O is just as dreamy in real life as he is on camera. He made everyone feel right at home. He made a point Sunday evening of meeting each one of us and taking the time to talk to us.
It was great fun but it went by so fast.

A good time was had by all 15 of us including a guest which we were allowed to bring along with us.
The first evening we all gathered for a cocktail party at the TCM studio. We mingled and got acquainted and it was nice putting faces to the board members that we corresponded with for years. My daughter Audrey and I ended up eating while seated in the sacred red chairs on the set which was a royal treat.
Of course Robert Osborne was everything you expected him to be, a first rate gent. He was most cordial and made sure to meet and greet all the guests in the studio, and took pictures with us.
Since I wasn't scheduled to shoot the next day, we joined some others on a trip by 'trolley' to Margaret Mitchell's old home where she wrote "Gone With the Wind". The relics were facinating including the original suitcases that she kept the manuscripts in.
We were off to the fabulous Fox Theater a grand movie palace built in the 1920s which includes Islamic and Egyptian architecture. The tour was most interesting ending in the balcony where they turned on the blue sky ceiling with the stars twinkling. It was like being outdoors in the evening.
Then it was off to Coca Cola where we sampled soda pop from all over the world of which some drinks were yucky.
At dinner that evening the special guest was supposed to be Tony Curtis but he didn't show up because he was under the weather. He did send all of us an autographed picture which was nice.

More Tales from Atlanta
Jon and I decided to go to Atlanta a day ahead of schedule. Coming from the west coast, we knew flying east would mean a three hour jump ahead in time and after talking about it and putting together a budget (what do you expect from two folks in the industry?), we decided that if we went a day early we'd have time to relax before the fun began.
I had been in Las Vegas on business and gotten home on Friday evening. I had time enough to do the laundry and start packing. Our car to the airport was coming at 6:15 the next morning. The turtle whisperer came and picked up our baby, promised to take good care of the pookie and we were able to finish packing.
I'd had knee surgery over the summer and had been advised to ask for a wheelchair when I got to the airport. I had my cane and my brace in hand. We used the sky cap to check our luggage and while we waited for the wheelchair we decided that LAX is really the sixth ring of he** with everyone inside lined up to check their luggage (don't they know the sky caps will do and there is no waiting?) and everyone has black luggage. Except us. We have brightly colored luggage you can see across the baggage pick up area.
We were whisked through security thanks to the wheelchair (in fact there is a special separate security check for that) and at the gate in no time. The trip across the country was uneventful though the plane was full. Why were all these folks going to Atlanta on a Saturday? Turned out it was going on to another destination though the majority of passengers got off in Atlanta.
They had a wheelchair and escort waiting for us and we were whisked down to baggage claim where we saw a driver holding up a sign with the TCM logo on it and our names! We were surprised! We found our luggage quickly enough and the next thing we knew were on our way to the hotel in a limo.
The hotel as many of us have said was wonderful. We had a nice dinner at a nearby jazz restaurant. The next morning we slept in and had breakfast in the hotel.
We were about to go out in search of Diet Coke and water (so as not to break into the minibar) and when we noticed a a couple of people in the bar/lounge area.
Darcy was there and introduced herself immediately. She was the perfect person to shepard us through the next few days. Bubbly and lots of energy. There were a couple of people sitting around waiting for their rooms to be ready. But we had no idea who they were at that point.
Darcy had given us a big folder with paperwork in it. Jon, gallant as always, said he would take it up to the room. I walked across the lobby with him and noticed an older gentleman coming in. His companion noticed that Jon was carrying a folder with a TCM logo on it. She motioned to the older gentleman and their eyes followed Jon as he walked to the elevators.
I suddenly realized that it was Mongo! Mongo has been a member of this board since the beginning (and over at TCM City almost from the beginning) and anyone who has been here and/or there for any length of time knows what a wonderful guy he is. His Ask Mongo thread, his Happy Birthday threads are just an example of how much he gives to this community. His work-in-progress, the Candids thread attests to his love of classic movies.
I introduced myself and we immediately hugged like old friends. He introduced his wonderful daughter and I quickly found myself helping them check in and then brought them over to meet Darcy. When Jon came back down from dropping off the folder, Mongo was the first person I think I introduced him to.
Still to come: Meeting the rest of the gang and the party on the stage!

How wonderful to see friends getting to donate their personalities to the viewing public! Congrats. And yes, I'm jealous, too. (Say - does anyone know how long vegetables and fruits should be saved so they're perfectly rotten when thrown? Just idle curiosity... hee hee hee... My TV screen's definitely going to need a 'clean up on Aisle 4' after y'all are on-air!)

Last night I saw the Guest Programmers promo spot for the first time! I have to say, you all looked really wonderful! My first thought was if you had your hair & make up done by an professional TCM artists.
I would be way too shy to be a GP, but I am so thrilled that "everday" people are given the spotlight on TCM. I actually find it more interesting (and accessible) to see a regular Joe (or Lynn) talking about what moves them in a film than a "celebrity". The call out quotes are engaging! You all should be very proud.
I can't wait to see each & every GP night!!

I saw the promo last night too. I applauded! And I've forwarned everyone that I know that I won't be leaving the house any night that week. I guess if I were jealous of anyone, it would be Lynn's husband or Mongo's daughter. I have no interest in being camera-ready, but would have loved to have seen the behind-the-scenes view of this adventure. That's why I enjoy reading everyone's tales about the event. Please, keep 'em coming!

TikiSoo, speaking of hair and make-up I didn't fare too well. My gray hair (what's left of it) is usually curly and puffy. When the lady got through with me is was pasted to my head with a part on my left side.
I thought perhaps this was done due to the lighting, so I went with the flow.
To make matters worse I forgot to wear my glasses which are my trademark with family and friends.
Yet, I am very pleased to have been part of this wonderful adventure.
Marco, my daughter Audrey was on cloud nine and enjoyed the whole experience. She mingled in the green room with other guest programmers and watched some of the interviews including mine, of course.
I thought perhaps this was done due to the lighting, so I went with the flow.
