Seeing a thread on "Sweet Bird of Youth" reminded me, does anyone happen to know if the ending was as depicted in the film, or was that a made-for-Hollywood happy ending? Seems logical to me she'd overdose on the sleeping pills, but then we get this rather incongruous taking up with the salemans in the park. Or did she go on to become a park-walker?

It's been a long time since I've read the play, but I know that she is alive at the end of the play...the tables have turned between her and John and neither can go back to the way they formerly were. So, picking up guys in the park sounds right...
