That TV archives site is great. All the interviews I have watched have been at least 90 minutes. Lots of great info on them. I've probably seen 6 or so and I've enjoyed them a great deal.

Suzanne was unique and talented. Her timing was simply incredible. I read the talk show appearances were her manager's suggestion. They showcased her witty side, and led to more TV work. As much as I like Newhart, there are times I hardly notice him. Suzanne is so strong and subtle, it's she who commands my attention. Very good casting!

I didn't know she was married to Tom Poston. Wasn't he a regular on the second Newhart series? Interesting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the archives. There are several other stars that have their stories preserved there. I do miss me a good talk show now and then. I think Betty White also has an interview like Suzanne's.

Arthur Treacher was hysterical on Merv Griffin. And I do miss being able to "Gaboradore."

According to the blurb on IMDB:
Rich playgirl Kit Jordan (nee Katherine Lawson Chandler) is in Acapulco vacationing with her current husband, Pete Jordan, formerly an American beach boy working the Acapulco shores for rich women. Meanwhile, the body of one of Pete's fellow beach boys, Billy Andrews, washes to shore. On his wrist is a bracelet engraved with "Love is thin ice." The police investigate whether it was murder or suicide. Conflict arises when Billy's old girlfriend, Carol, makes a play for Pete, and beach boy Hank tries to score with Kit, and the stability of the marriage is put to the test

PLUS: Cliff Robertson, Hugh O'Brian, Stephanie Powers, and Ruth Roman.

I have never seen this one. I want to hear about this gem from 1965, kingrat, if you have comments...

It's pretty bad, and I say that being a fan of Lana.

Hi,

I saw it when it first came out and it died 'a borning'....

Lana runs around Acapulco in a million dollar wardrobe from Edith Head. People don't dress like that in Acapulco and Lana should have known better, as she frequented the place many times. Even Merle Oberon didn't dress that extravagantly, and she lived there for years!!
There was a twenty minute feature on the wardrobe produced to go with the movie - they should show that as the costumes are the real star of the film.

Hugh O'Brian and Ruth Roman are the only saving graces but they're only in the picture for 5 minutes!!

HELLO SUE X 2.

All that has been said about "LOVE HAS MANY FACES" is true, SueSue:

* A Lana fan says it's pretty bad.
* Another says it's to be avoided.
* And this is true as well: "Lana runs around Acapulco in a million dollar wardrobe from Edith Head. People don't dress like that in Acapulco and Lana should have known better, as she frequented the place many times. Even Merle Oberon didn't dress that extravagantly, and she lived there for years!!"

So listen to your ol' "Marge Champion" pal here. These are all the reasons TO see this movie. This isn't a documentary about the Mexican bumble bee. This isn't a documentary about the indigenous people of Mexico. Remember the Alamo!!! Suspend your disbelief. It's Lana. LANA. Love, and Lana (truth be told) has many faces. And I love Lana. I'd love to see this as a double bill with "Portrait in Black."

L A N A !

See it for yourself...and then you can avoid it forever. Besides, you've got that wardrobe theme going on in your Travel Blog so.....this'll be Research.

I'll take five minutes of Hugh O'Brian over that film she did with pasty marshmallow man John Lund. Heck, I'll take Ruth Roman over John Lund.

See the movie and report back to us how good this bad movie is. :)

Lana and wardrobe go together like guacamole and a flauta. Sounds like I need to sharpen my critical sense on this "Only an excuse for a change of wardrobe" plotboiler....

I'm with you regarding Portrait in Black (1960), CineMaven. (I bet you first watched it as a kid when it used to be on WOR's Million Dollar Movie for 5 days in a row) Love that scene when Anthony Quinn makes Lana drive a car!! For those of you who might never have had the opportunity to revel in this dazzling Ross Hunter trashfest, (with Lana beautifully gowned, and with only San Francisco as on-screen competition in the pulchritude dept--though I must say John Saxon was a pleasure to see), I post a link below to this memorable film. I love Lloyd Nolan's Mr. Crankypants, too. What can I say about the potent Mr. Quinn's Method-tinged participation here? Perhaps the most charitable remarks are that he brought intensity, energy and a certain Latino dash and dignity to his impossibly voluble character--though he scared the heck out of me as a kid when I first saw this. All I could think was "If this guy is a doctor, much less a surgeon, I hope I never encounter him in the OR." And what a cast--Anna May Wong, Richard Basehart, Ray Walston & Virginia Grey, along with Sandra Dee, who seemed to wear miniature versions of Lana's duds. :

I might have liked LOVE HAS MANY FACES a little if the film had been about the raucous and cynical character played by Ruth Roman and her reluctant and tentative companion in decadence, Virginia Grey, (even though the fair-skinned Virginia rarely seemed to appear in anything more chic than a hat that would be a better flower pot and a mangy poncho. Not much clothing budget for her wardrobe!). The two American ladies taking a walk on the seamy side in Acapulco were quite a lot of vulgar fun, especially Ruth, who found her "ideal" playmate in Hugh O'Brian (who didn't seem to really like girls much, though I suspect that is one of the pitfalls of gigolohood).

Is it me, or was Cliff Robertson the least convincing cabaña boy of the bunch? He always looked as though he was peeved because his mercenary love life interfered with a yearning to make the latest Rotary luncheon to hear about the Chamber of Commerce plans for resort development in Acapulco.

I am shocked! shocked! that you read this at work! How would you like it if your co-workers read this stuff instead of doing their job pushing that rock uphill over and over again?
