CinemaInternational wrote: December 11th, 2022, 2:25 am Still, the two incidents left their mark. In a way, they did a good thing. I was pretty cocky when I was younger, and they helped to disarm that. They probably are the reason why I am more mild-mannered and down to earth today It might be humility learned by the school of hard knocks, but it was for the best. My religion tells me to forgive my enemies, and I still struggle with that a bit, though I still try to do better.
Learning from a bad incident is your first victory, forgiving those who perpetrated is your second victory. Maintaining sound judgement is your reward. You can only control yourself, not others' actions.

Once I realized my perpetrator was a sick human being, someone who couldn't control themselves & willingly hurt others. I understood just in that alone-it had nothing to do with me. Forgiveness is a bit easier once you realize that person is so weak, they haven't even mastered basic right/wrong behaviour.

Good for you that you trust us. That was the big value of the TCM board-it was full of mature, thoughtful posters who wrote in complete sentences. We could spot the tweet crowd immediately and pretty much ignore them.

Considering THIS board was set up just to avoid Troublemakers, I think we'll do just fine here. The first step: simply not respond to them.

You are kind people and its not an act on your part, and your wisdom and warmth helped me when I needed it the most.

I don’t recall if I have seen either but from the descriptions neither strike me as any more offensive than something like Cannibal Holocaust. People can be reminded of serious trauma everywhere though. Not something to be taken lightly.

Well then, my apologies if I've offended anyone, again.

"Behaviour"???!!!

Look Tiki, I KNOW Upstate New York is VERY close to Canada and all, but I've always thought you were a born and bred AMERICAN here, lady?!!!

(...yeah yeah, that's right...I'm even gonna continue kidding about that oh-so needless letter 'u' in cases such as this around HERE now TOO!) ;)

I have a solution for your problem. Let's abolish the word altogether. For now on only comportment can be used (or another viable synonym). If that's going to far, then have the Autosenselessor ** quash it. :smiley_yeah:

;)

**Our wonderful MissWonderly3 coined this appellation some time ago and I use it here with profound respect and admiration, not wishing to plagiarize her inspired creation.

And, a propos, where might this lady be? I crave her presence here so that she may correct my perhaps misspelling of that word. And that she may linger a long while thereafter.

Someone on the "other" site has posted that a link to SSO on the old TCM boards leads to a "really vulgar, pornographic gif". I checked myself to see if I could find what they meant, but all of the links I clicked just led here. I asked the person (named "Newbie") to post where this supposed dirty link is.

Right now the whole thing seems kind of shady, but glitches have been known to occur, so I'll reserve judgment until someone clarifies.

The offended party ("Newbie") responded that it only happened once, and that a "graphic sex act" came up on their screen while at work.

Has anyone else encountered this here? They are implying it may have been a spammer/spambot, and they've also suggested that it's not safe for people to visit this site.

Just a heads up to the site moderators to be aware if this is an actual issue.

A couple of times when I've clicked on this site, it has taken me to a porn site.

I had bookmarked this site, based on the link provided in that TCM post. It ended with oasis3/. I've now changed the bookmark, which now ends with indexphp/.

I have never seen any such glitch or any porn posted to this site. I'm not sure what link they're following but if you go to http://silverscreenoasis.com/ it works just fine, as does http://silverscreenoasis.com/oasis3/ (they are the same page). I visit this site multiple times a day from different devices and have never seen this happen. I don't know what this link at the TCM forums or wherever it is that was posted is, but I'd suggest making your own bookmark from this site, after you get here, rather than following a link shared elsewhere.

Thank you for your response, Lomm!

Very strange! During the past two days, different Websites have appeared after I click my SSO bookmark . . . the URL of which first was index.php and now is http://silverscreenoasis.com/oasis3. No porn sites appeared. One site was a sports Website. After I click my bookmark a second time, the SSO appears.

Makes no sense to me. I've been coming here using the same bookmark (synced across multiple devices in Chrome) since 2013, and this has NEVER happened to me once.
